On April 7th we went to the embassy in Beijing and filed our I-130 by DCF. what should we expect now?

We were told that a case number for checking the status online isn't issued to DCF'ers.

So how do we track the status?

How long should we wait before calling to see if our I-130 was approved or not?

thanks everyone.

Wow, that was quick! I just filed in Tokyo yesterday and we were told that we should hear back in about a month; were you told the same?

Hi all,

I filed a i-130 petition at the consulate in frankfurt on 27 Mar 09 and it is 9 Jun09 and nothing. They say it takes about 90 days for them to process a packet. I was stationed in Germany i the active army. My wife is a Czech national. So they told us it would route to prague whatever that means? I am facing a deployment and I really want to be with my wife before I go. I have been in the USA for a month. Any suggestions. Anyone know how DCF works in my case? Nobody can seem to give me an answer. All I have is the receipt from when I paid the $355. Can I just fly my wife over here and file some paperwork to keep her here until I deploy?

thanks,

Joe

I sent an three emails no response. My wife has tried to call them about five times with no answer. I figure something is wrong and they really don't care. I know that there have been about most of the population that comes from the south illegally and then they are magically legal and voting in the current election at whatever time. If they can do it I can. Can someone help me out because I really don't have time for this BS.

thanks in advance

Hello,

Ok I finally got the petition approved at Frankfurt on 6 Aug 09. The problem is that they do not issue a receipt number. Now I thought that with a DCF case the NVC was not involved. They told me via email that the petition has been sent to the NVC. Anyone know how to confirm they received my packet without a NOA2?

thank you,

Joe

DCF does not go through NVC. However, you no longer live abroad right? So perhaps that's why your case will go en route of a normal CR-1. Now, as a member of the armed forces, I believe you can apply for expedite processing. Talk to your commanding officer.

After the I-130 has been approved the USC is free to leave the foreign country. NVC should not be involved. Your third party carrier receipt (in Egypt, it's DHL) is how you track receipt of the packet.

I've learned NOT to trust email responses because they aren't the most accurate source of information. Can your wife continue to call?

Joe, here's something to thing about.. I don't think you have a 'DCF' case.

First of all, there is no DCF in Frankfurt because there is a USCIS office there. That is where you filed the I-130, and they will accept those from USCs living abroad, as you were. But your wife was/is not living there? She is in CR? It sounds like they are going to send the case for regular visa processing it and forward it to where she lives.

You can go for an expedite due to your upcoming deployment; have you contacted the NVC yet, or the military hotline? I'd start with those two.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your responses. Well I am not sure what the case falls under. If it was a normal visa case I would have received a NOA1 and an NOA2, but I did not. The military helpline for USCIS is of no help. They claim that the system overseas is different and they cannot track petitions overseas. The NVC needs my receipt number which you don't get overseas. So They responded to my email, and told me my petition was approved and forwarded to the NVC. It is heading to the end of August now and I have no contact from the NVC. Wouldn't the case just be transfered to the Prague embassy? I thought the NVC only deals with cases filed in the USA. Either way the Government is outstanding for losing paperwork so this concerns me. If they ship via DHL how do you get the tracking number for your packet?

Thank you,

joe
