Hello All!

Grrrrr. Still trying to get a K-2 appointment for late June in Kiev. I called today and the call center is not taking appointments for late June yet! I called the consualte visa section. They say they will open late June on Monday, May 18. They also report the current "lead time" for a K visa appointment is 5 days. Last year at this time it was TWO MONTHS!

Good luck to all

Because one has nothing to do with the other.

Kiev embassy handles visas for Ukraine and a couple other countries (some visas) VSC handles all visas for the eastern US, probably 25 times as many. Not to mention that Kiev only handles "approved petitions" whereas the VSC handles all. If (when) VSC gets "slow" they will transfer employees working on visas to some other duty, they do not sit and wait for the next visa petition to come through the door. They establish a "pace" an acceptable (to them) processing time and do what they need to accomodate it. If the time is unacceptable (to them) they will hire more people or whatever to try and speed it up.

VSC's main problem, I suspect is the fact that a large part of the office is getting to move to another location in Essex, Vermont rather than St. Albans.

Keep in mind, last year I waited 50% LONGER from NOA2 to interview than I did from NOA1 to NOA2. Last year, for Kiev, the NOA2 was less than "halfway there". You will pick up some time there...lucky you.
