Hi, everybody!!!

I have 2 small questions. I hope you may explain them to me :)

So, my interview is in June 25. and my questions are:

1. The appointment for the medical examination should take place a week or two before the interview or no? (I'd like to check it with you in case they ask me when I want it)

2. I'm going to translate all the documents myself. Is it ok? No apostille?

Thank you in advance!!!

Btw, did you buy tickets in advance or no? what is cheaper?

- I love you all :))))))))))))))

1. The interview is not connected with the medical exam. You will need to schedule the medical exam yourself. If you live in Moscow, you could have the medical exam done anytime before your interview date. If you don't live in Moscow and want to minimize your time in Moscow, I would suggest allowing 1-2 days (depends on which clinic you choose) prior to the interview date to complete the medical exam and get the results. Check the following link for more info.

2. You can translate the documents yourself. No apostille is needed. The translation does need to be certified (there is some recommended language for this), and I would suggest that you have a friend, who also is able to do translations, actually certify the translation. I think that some have signed their own translations, and I think that probably is fine. But, I'll let those who have direct knowledge of this chime in if they wish.

I guess that you're asking about buying tickets to the U.S.? The embassy recommends, and I do as well, that you don't buy your plane tickets until you've actually received your visa.

Hope this helps some. Good luck to you!

Medical exam has to be done within six months of the interview. You can do it one day before or one month before. (To be quite technical, you could do it after, but you don't want to.) Most folks typically do it a day or two before the interview to save money on lodging in Moscow.

Translations should be fine and doing them yourself proves you know English well. They'll probably require you do the interview in English since you're proficient enough to translate your own documents. No apostille is needed. Make sure you have "official" copies of documents you're translating. And, keep in mind whatever you take to the embassy for your interview can be in Russian, they speak Russian there!

Tickets-

The only reason to buy in advance would be to save some money but any money you'd save could be lost if you need extra time to get your visa. However, if you have all your ducks in a row it's possible to schedule your departure only two or three days after the interview. I wouldn't do it, but then again, I'm poor so that's the limiting factor for me. If you have enough money that it's not an issue, do whatever you want!
