Otsoo88, We were going thru Catholic Services at 1st. When we got here from Phil we were married 3 days after. I advised Cathoilic Services that we fulfilled requirement to be married within the 90 days. They then informed me that we had 2 years to file for the next step of Immigrant Reident. They didn't tell me that we were suposed to file a Conditional Resident app. We then took a trip to California to see her mom and sisters. Upon coming back to Texas, we were detained at the Border Patrol because there was not a CR app on file. They placed her in deportation proceedings. Then they released her to me. When we got back to South Texas, I went to Catholic Services to get them to help me with this problem and they said, "You got yourself into this, you get yourself out of it." I then had to hire a lawyer who got it out of deportation and back in to USCIS court. So that is why. I had someone representing me and they led me wrong.

Are you saying that once you were married you were not able to travel within the United States because you had not filed a conditional resident app? It was my understanding that travel within the US is fine as long as you don't leave the country. Am I wrong?

Depends on what you are asking.

If you are asking if a person can willy-nilly around and delay indefinitely filing for adjustment of status - sure they can. But for K1 entrants, the day their I94 expires is the day they become out of status.

Now - if one is out of status long enough - one might eventually get questioned about it.

So when we got to the Border Patrol in El Paso they had us park and come inside to see if there was a case pending in the system. Since there wasn't 1 they detained us for 14 hours then finally released her and her son to me. When I went to Catholic Services to get them to help with this deportation proceedings that the ICE in El Paso placed them in, Catholic services said, "You got yourself into this you get yourself out of it." They claim there was not a CR app to be filed. So I had to hire a lawyer, to get it out of deportation court and back into USCIS court.

I JUST EXPLAINED TO YOU. Catholic Services said that we had 2 years to file for the next step of IMMIGRANT RESIDENT. They left out the step in between.......CONDITIONAL RESIDENT. We didn't even know that we had to file that. That's how they scammed us, not by money!!!!!

Well that and a buck twenty-five will get you a cup of coffee.

Don't blame your troubles on a volunteer at a non-profit who did free work for you.

me myself passed thru that border patrol 2x good thing i already had my conditional greencard that time, they even tried to tricked me with all the questions, but they got nothing from me except my exact right answers, they ended up telling my husband and i "thank you and have a safe trip guys", they also did detained my friend and her husband because they asked for her ss card and she won't show it though she already showed her conditional greencard, they ended up more that 4 hours in the border patrol area before they let hem go, they seemed very strict.

anyways, man you better let go that's all i can say, have mercy on yourself and stop hitting your head with a rough huge rock, this is the perfect example of a wrong timing or not meant to be, you can't fight for somebody that doesn't at least appreciate what you are doing, you still have so much life ahead of you on finding a real woman that will share life with you who is more sincere and true than your current wife, i am a filipina myself, my husband and i filed AOS later than 90 days but i never blamed him, still AOS can be filed anyways, file a divorce and let go, wake up!, because if tomorrow you wake up and she's knocking the door and all nice/sweet, would you tell yourself she loved you after all? its your decision, but i'll be shaking my head.

last question, how long she have been here?

sorry for this trouble that my co-filipinas made, if a filipina really love the man, it will never turned out like this, believed me.

LOL Rebecca, I wasn't blaming anyone, just the facts. They misled us and we got into trouble.

Allen -

Saying someone 'scammed' you sounds like you are blaming them, don't you think?

Did your wife go to stay with her family after this unfortunate incident? Or before?

So that means she left AFTER she was detained.

I see.

Yep. She's a real scammer all right. One of those 'third world women' who move in on an unsuspecting US citizen looking to better themselves............................

She's probably terrified.

Rebecca, The incident in El Paso at the BP station was in the summer. She left last month, after an argument. I came home from work and she was gone. I've found out now that she is in Arizona at her oldest sisters.

I'm getting the distinct impression that we don't have all the details of your relationship, the state of your marriage, or your wife's immigrant status.

What I am pretty sure about is this - the way you originally painted the picture gave several readers of this thread the opportunity to jump on the 'greencard bride' bandwagon and have a go at your wife and other women from her culture.

Like so much else on VJ, we just can't get the whole picture from what is often written. Which has a tendency to bring out the peanut gallery.

Good luck to you, Allen. I think you're gonna need it.
