At his daily press briefing, Robert Gibbs fired back at former Vice President ####### Cheney, who accused President Obama on Sunday of endangering the country. Cheney also said he would choose Rush Limbaugh's version of the Republican Party over Colin Powell's.

Gibbs said he was "struck" by "watching the former president and former vice president take markedly different views to their lives, post-their administration."

Former President Bush has not made any public criticism of Obama, in sharp contrast to Cheney.

Gibbs continued:

"I think the answer that he gave to the future of the Republican Party, picking Rush Limbaugh over Colin Powell was an illuminating answer about what you're going to see going forward. I think you've got a series of ideas and a series of thoughts that in many ways the last election was about and the last election rejected …They're essentially going forward by looking back, and if the vice president believes that's a way of growing and expanding the Republican Party, then we're happy to leave them to those devices."

I saw the Bob Schieffer interview with Cheney yesterday. The man has no regrets about anything whatsoever. Abu Ghraib, Gitmo, waterboarding, wiretapping without FISA oversight ... it's all good for #######.

Schieffer tried to give him an out - times were different back in 01 & 02, the mood in the nation was different... in hindsight Mr. Cheney wouldn't you have done anything differently? ....

Cheney: Nope.

Pretty much a direct quote. Check the transcript. He's steadfast in his convictions, gotta give him that.

Colin Powell is Democrat lite. I'd be happy when he finally accepts that fact and moves on.

I'd like to see if Barry does another Apology Tour after his own 9/11.

I'd like to see if Barry does another Apology Tour after his own 9/11.

Bite your tongue.

He's tougher on General Motors than on dictators and terrorists. He's asking for it. Unfortunately, others will pay.

I have no objection to your criticism of Obama. Criticize him, his policies, his administration, his Press secretary, all you like.

I do have an objection to ".. after his own 9/11". 9/11 was a horrible American tragedy. It wasn't a Republican or a Democrat tragedy.

That you would appear to be anticipating, almost gloating, at the prospect of such a thing happening again I found loathsome.

If I've misunderstood you, by all means feel free to correct me. State clearly for the record that you hope and pray that no such event occurs on American soil ever again. I will then retract.

But if you stand by it, effectively wishing that Americans die so that you can prove some political point, I will continue in my opinion of you as loathsome. That word has about the right texture to it for my purposes.

I'm hardly responsible for your negative interpretation of my post, nor do I owe you an apology for it. I'm the one who should be offended, but I wont even bother.

BTW, if you wish to get upset by someone anticipating another tragedy during Obama's tenure, I'll remind you that Joe Biden beat me to that.

There is a world of difference between wanting something to happen and being fearful that it will happen. Accusing someone, no matter what their political persuasion of "almost gloating, at the prospect of such a thing happening again" is bordering on the insulting. By attributing your own interpretation on someone else's words and making demands, you leave yourself open to the accusation that you are biased, prejudiced and opinionated, and you therefore stand to lose whatever credibility you thought you had.

Moreover, as the poster has subsequently said, the current Vice President is of the same mind. Do you regard him as loathsome? If not, your high-minded demands fall flat and you look a fool. As do those in agreement with you.

Cheney represents everything that is wrong with the Republican party... far right on the political spectrum, arrogant, intolerant of other views & basically a heartless #######. Since Rush Limbaugh has many of these same qualities it's not surprising at all that Cheney backs him.

Pooks...I think enough people can read what Barza Woman wrote their and draw their own conclusion. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion here which is what this all amounts to in the end.

Quit defending the indefensible for a change. You persist in demonizing someone for an opinion shared by the current VP, yet you don't insinuate that he is an out-of-touch, right-wing, reactionary nut, do you?

Consistency of opinion is somewhat lacking here.

Demonize? Pot meet kettle.
