hi everybody.... hope u guys can give some advice!!! my wife just got her cr1 visa and we are planning to go to the states by the end of june, we are also planning to take back her 2 boys with us... ( the boys are us citizens...long story!!) my question is: can i get the boys health insurance since i have been living in colombia for the past 6 years and i don`t have a job and therefore no health insurance....but hopelly i`ll get a job with benefits as soon as i arrive in the states but in the mean time i want them to be protected....would i jeopardize my wife`s cr1 visa by getting the low or free health insurance for the kids?? and the other qustion is: with the cr1 visa my wife can start working right away but what about her ssn, doesn`t she need that number to get started at a job!! thank u..i`ll appreciate any input. philipe

She'll need the number for her I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification form which is to be filled out when she signs a new work contract / starts employee orientation. Her number should be received her number by the time she finds a new job though so don't worry about it. (unless she has something lined up already)

check with your state's Medicaid program re: health insurance for kids
