1040 form income tax return no signature

hi VJ family, I need your answer for this My fiance forgot to sign his signature on 1040 form income tax return is this accepted? my interview is on Wednesday. hope you can reply immediately..thank you

TIMELINE

ROC

January 07,2012--- GC expires

October 17, 2011-- sent packet to VSC

October 19, 2011 -- Packet received

October 24, 2011-- Check Cashed

October 27, 2011-- NOA received

December 07, 2011-- Biometrics

July 16, 2012-- card production

I think if it's filed electronically, you don't need the signature, I do my own tax and I use Turbotax software then file it electronically, therefore there is no need to write my signature. I f he used Turbotax, when you print a copy of the 1040, there is statement written on the cover page that says something like "signature is not required when filing electronically or online". What I did was highlight that statement so that the Consul will see it.

Looking back now, I should have just signatured it just to be sure, but at that time it never occured to me about the signature issue, I was not aware if it's needed.

Hopefully I'm right because my fiancee's interview is also on Wednesday, May 13th, otherwise the visa will be delayed.. :unsure:

Hi there, thank you for your response I don't know what software he used he works for the government and he actually get his income tax return form electronically,I hope also it doesn't matter about the signature.wow great your fiance had the same interview with me hope we could met there.lol

my hubbys form 1040 had no signature too and i passed the interview... dont worry about it... you will be fine... Good Luck in your interview... God Bless :)

09/26/2011 - Biometrics Appointment Notice Date (Sent)

10/13/2011 - Early Biometrics

10/19/2011 - Biometrics Appointment

10/26/2011 - GC expiration

11/25/2011 - Received RFE

11/28/2011 - Sent response to RFE

01/13/2012 - Ordered card production (Approved)

01/19/2012 - 10 yrs GC received

The electronic 1040 forms have an electronic signature process to verify the return is signed. Hand written 1040 form's still must be signed for the IRS. Whether it has a signature or not may be to the descretion of the CO.

I used tax transcripts with my SS number showing because I did not want to take the chance of the CO requesting the original W2 forms.

3/23/14 - N400 package sent to Phoenix

3/27/14 - N400 package delivered

4/3/14 - NOA1 receipt date

4/4/14 - check cashed

04/29/14 - biometrics date

07/01/14 - interview date

xx/xx/xx - Oath Ceremony
