OK, I learn something new everyday here..I have been w/ the same company for 15 years, earn plenty of money to show support and can supply paystubs and tax returns.. Is the letter from my employer a requirement ? I work for a Fortune 25 company, getting HR to supply me with anything is like dealing with the USCIS, When and whom do I need to supply this info to ?

Letter of employment is not required - in almost every case they're nearly impossible to get and if/when you do, they sound so generic you'd hardly find them worth submitting. They're worth suggesting because they can help folks in some cases - but in general the Embassy/Consulate knows they're kind of a pain to get.

Keep to the pay stubs and tax returns and you'll be just fine.

No. The employment letter is not a requirement and it sounds like you have plenty of documentation of your work. HR is protecting your company from parasitic attorneys who particularly like big companies to host on.

Incidentally, there really is nothing "required" for the evidence of support, not even the I-134. It is your responsibility to prove that your fiancee will be supported and not become a public charge. The I-134 is a convenient and accepted form to do that with, and the recommended documentation is that which has been tried and proven to be sufficient, but nothing per se, is "required". Kiev, for example gives a list of items you can use and "suggests" you present two of them.

At most US consulates, a letter from an employer will not be necessary if there is other sufficient verification of income.

What documentation is required and how you present it will be consulate specific. Read and learn about your consulate in advance so you know what will be required at interview.

I just went to the US Embassy in Peru in April for our K1 interview. All I supplied was my 2008 Tax Return and 3 months of paystubs from my employer. This was sufficient. If you have a significant amount of money in savings or a 401K, then I would take a copy of the balance in those accounts. Otherwise, the tax return and paystubs are good enough. We were approved, so that's my experience. Good Luck! I'm sure everything will be fine.
