I don't see why Socialism and Capitalism can't go hand-in-hand. Maybe it's not fair that you'd be required to help others, but in doing so, you're helping the economy. A better economy means more jobs. Higher employment means less people to help. Less people to help means more people helping themselves, which is essentially Capitalism.

Most countries already have this. Europe is capitalist after all.

In some areas, I disagree with Europe a lot. In others... not so much. It's when the system goes too far towards Socialism or Capitalism that problems arise. If there's a decent mix of the two, it'd probably work better. It's government, so it still wouldn't work well, but better than before.

America decided not to rely on the generosity of others to take care of the needy, so we created the Welfare State. Long before that, Marx and Engles created Socialism with the idea that it would replace Capitalism once it's true nature was revealed.

The free market best represents the idea of a 'survival of the fittest', however that is not what evolution is about. Socialism would be like God telling the lions to stop eating other animals and become vegetarians. How about a happy medium where God says to the lions, you can eat other animals, but your belly gets full and stays full so you only eat what you need and nothing more?

I think its more like, Socialism would be like God telling the hyenas that there in control of making sure that the lions only eat what they need.

The happy medium is that God lets the lions decide how much they eat because they had to chase that dam thing around the field.

A lion will not eat more than what it needs. In fact, in the wild, you'll find lions lying in the grass near gazelles. Are they practicing Socialists or is that they know more about survival than we do?

Actually the lion's do have a bit of welfare state thing going on - as the "male" sits on his ####### while the women do the hunting for him.
