Exactly. It is not possible for a married person to secure a current certificate indicating they are NOT MARRIED. Both parties already submitted any needed evidence termination of any previous marriage when the petition was filed.

Beneficiary needs to get a NSO CEMAR. Cert of Marriage. Apply for CENOMAR and that's what they will give you. Also called a marriage index. It shows the marriages you have had.

If you hubby was once a filipino citizen or is a dual citizen it might be a good idea for him to get one also.

Doesn't cost much and "may' be needed.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

Just bring the Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry that your hubby got from the US Embassy and make sure to have your CENMAR.

The original NSO issued marriage certificate is submitted to NVC before the CR1 or IR1 interview is scheduled. Bringing one to the interview would be in addition, not instead of.

If you are already married, they might ask of MARRIAGE INDEX.. CENOMAR is for single and CEMAR (marriage index) is for married couples. It is different from NSO marrige certificate which you submitted during USCIS and NVC stage..

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

Is this a Philippine-specific requirement? If it is then it might be better if this was posted in the regional forum perhaps...?

Only need a NSO CEMAR [marriage index] for the beneficiary. Your hubbys name will be on it tho. Shows both of you and when you married.
