Hi everyone,

I just realized that I forgot to make a copy of my fiance's 2008 tax returns. I asked the company to send us one, but I doubt it will arrive on time... my interview is very soon.

I have his W2's and some other papers that state how much he made last year+ letter from the company itself.

I also have bank statements from the last 4 months.

He makes way above the poverty line...

What do you all think? Is this going to be a problem?

Thank you for your help!

For the visa interview at most consulates, there really is NO specific requirement for tax returns or anything else. Your fiance must establish he can support you and you will not go on welfare. Kiev, for example, "suggests" a minimum of two items from a list of 4, one of which is a tax return. It is entirely possible you are OK. It is also entirely possible you are not OK. If there is no way to get a copy of the tax return, then what is the choice? Go to the interview and hope for the best. Worst case? They could approve the visa and hold it until you deliver a tax return to them. Sounds like, worst case, you may delay things few days.

Good luck

have them scanned to .pdf and e-mailed to you... of have them faxed to you.

Yeah but I'm not even 100% sure that the company has a copy...

What then?

Have your fiancee get Tax transcripts from IRS. He can call IRS during businesss hours and have them faxed to him/her the same day.

Free 800-829 1040.

He can also call 24/7 and have them mailed also. Takes about 6 days by snail mail. Can then scan or fax then to you!

The embassy accepts scanned or faxed copies.

Tax transcripts are more valid than 1040s and W2s as they show you/he filed!

And most reliable tax preparers would give the taxpayer an extra copy for their files.

Where did that copy go???

HI everyone.

Ok so I got the 2006 and 2007 transcripts for his tax returns.

The IRS was unable to fax us the 2008 one though, cause it will only be ready by June 1st.

I have a letter from them, that explains that.

I do have his W2's for 2008.

Do you think this will be an issue?

Thanks a lot everyone!
