Hi all, new to posting, but a long time reader! (ugh!!!!)

Anyways, I have a question.

I'm filling out the AOS. I've recently moved to Madison, WI and I got a job as a substitute teacher (very difficult to get a job around here in teaching). Obviously, my annual salary is pretty much shot. I put in a best estimate but I realize it'll be well below the %125 above poverty line. When I look at my assets, they won't be able to cover the 3-times-the-difference requirement. I've already asked my mother to be a joint sponsor and she makes more than enough each year to fill that requirement.

So, 2 questions:

1. Should I even bother trying to fill out the "Assets" section and just accept that my ~$7200 "annual salary" won't cut it (because I'm allowing my mother to fill that role)?

&

2. When I fill out the AOS, and my mother fills it out, do I send it both in the same package to the NVC?

thanks in advance, I hope someone can help!

Hi there!

I wouldn't suggest filling in the 'assets' part, since you do not meet the 3X requirement. Fill in the I864 with the salary from your teaching job and supply the required documents, they will most likely look towards your mothers AOS for the info they need.

Yes, send them both at the same time, keep them in their own little stacks (your papers with your forms, her papers with her forms)

Hope this helps!

Just to add! If you live with your mother she will fill out the form I-864A! If that is not the case, you fill out an I-864 and she fills out her own I-864!
