Hello to all the VJers!

I have been lurking around here for a few months while my SO and I figured out some things. All in all I don't know how many conversations I will be able to have since most of the questions I could POSSIBLY come up with are already answered here! :D So to all of the souls who have contributed to this wealth of knowledge, I thank you.

But just in case I need someone to hold my hand in the future I will go ahead and tell my story. ;)

It was a beautiful mid summer afternoon in downtown Anchorage, Alaska. I had just sat down at a local restaurant for some lunch with a friend of mine. When I noticed coming from the opposite side of the room a gorgeous little blonde, carrying a tray of food on her shoulder the same size she was. I did the peek-a-boo game, stare until they see you staring then look away, then do it again... and again... and again. Until you know they must think you're a stalker. Fortunately she was employed there and couldn't run off in disgust because she had work to do. :P I did my best not to watch her try and slide a table that weighed much more than she did across the floor, I really tried... but what can I say, it was kind of sexy... And then she disappeared. I told my friend that I think I just found my favorite spot to eat.

I was presented with a dilemma though. My mother has worked in the food/alcohol service side forever. Rule one for the patron, don't hit on the help. You won't get anywhere. Sure the help might flirt and act like they really care, but chances are good that they just want you to be happy and tip well.

So it took me a few days, but I came back in. This time she was working as a hostess... oh my god she is gorgeous! And so petite! Platinum blonde hair, 100Lbs soaking wet, blue eyes and maybe 5'3... 5'5 with heels. I didn't get a chance to see her this close before, which is probably good, I would have drooled on my plate. And now I had to actually talk to her. She saw me in line too... she remembered, the creepy guy. hehe Or that's what I thought she was thinking. She smiled at me when she saw me, smiled like she knew me. ... and then she spoke. What came out of her mouth caught me off guard and it took me a second to respond back. She was Russian! Call me odd (or I can, makes no difference to me), but I have always had a "thing" with Russian womens accents. I love em! I took 2 years of Russian in High school because I really liked the sound of their speech. "Will you be eating upstairs or downstairs" has never sounded so sexy to me in my whole life... I finished eating and came back down to leave. She was busy with some customers and I didn't catch her eye, but before I hit the door I heard her yell out "See you later!", to which I replied, "Yes you will!". And I was hooked.

I will end the long part of the story here and just give the cliff notes up until now.

She was on a work visa from Chelyabinsk, Russia. She was leaving in 2 months. I actually caught her eye before she caught mine and she was morbidly embarrassed about having to move tables in front of me. She was mad I didn't try talking to her sooner. We spent 45 days straight together before she left. We fell in love before she departed and I gave her a promise ring to say I will be coming to Russia. We've kept in contact every day by way of phone, email, webcam and SMS chat. I went to Chelyabinsk on 04-08 of this year and stayed for 3 weeks. Loved Russia (for the most part) and her family (both parents are professors working on PHD's...)(She actually has 5 degrees and teaches Economics at the University). We were able to stay in a friend of families flat while they were in Moscow. No rent and just the two of us. The only thing I regret is not bringing "the" ring with me. I wasn't 100% sure of her feelings. I knew she would lose a lot if she left. This was a verification trip, is it meant to be.... it really is meant to be. SO. Here we are now. She wants to get married, I want to get married. She wants to come to the US to be with me, and I suppose I'm ok with that. ;) She is filling out the beginning batch of K-1 papers and getting a photo done and will be handing it to a friend of hers to deliver to me when this friend comes to Alaska next week. No need to worry about mailing of scanning and emailing, I will have the originals.

I look forward to posting regular POSITIVE updates to our journey. I know or think the 1st attempt will be denied and I will have to fill out a waiver due to a boo-boo in my past, but I've read plenty and this boo-boo won't seal the deal, just more medical on my part.

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

Thanks for your great story, and good luck!

You don't mention what your 'boo boo' is. If you believe it's surmountable, it's probably best to get it taken care of now before filing. What's the purpose of filing if you believe it will be rejected? It's a lengthy and expensive process, so do the research up front to get it done right. Imho.

Once again, good luck and welcome to VJ.
