Hi yes my Fiance interview is set for June 4th and I am going to HCMC June 1 to support her and hopefully bring her back to USA with me on the 17th. I've been reading posts specific to Vietnam and I must confess I am getting concerned about what I hear about the US Consulate there - some posters say they have heard Vietnam denies 50%, 80% and even 99% of K1 applicants on the first interview and almost always make you go thru the process two times - is that accurate? Outside of the former "axis of evil" (ugh) nations it seems like Vietnam is the toughest country in the world for a K1, is that accurate?

I feel my girl and I have a very strong case, she speaks excellent English and has already travelled to Europe and Australia for business, i can even speak a little tieng viet, neither of us have ever been married or every filed for any K1 Visa stuff before, we had a traditional Vietnamese engagement ceremony and a huge engagement party, we have evidence of daily communication for the past 15+ months, I've gone to see her twice in the past year, we've bought each other gifts, flowers etc, we travelled to Nha Trang and the Mekong delta together, we love each other so much it hurts etc I would just hate for all of this to be ignored at the interview, but it seems like it might happen.

Can anyone who has gone thru the interview process at HCMC offer any inside tips? If we get rejected is there anything i can do while I am there to maybe reverse the decision in under 2 weeks?

Should I be very worried or just a little, or something in between? I'm already thinking of backup plans, we've been working so hard on this to get our case as good as can be, I dont know what I'd do if they just reject us without even looking at our papers.

I see in your signature that you talk about wedding party and honeymoon. These things are not possible for fiance(e)s to have. Those are for married people.

If Huong talks about her wedding party and honeymoon that may be an issue. Talking about her engagement party is good. Sounds crazy, but this is HCMC.

Cam on anh map, yes we use those terms only on VJ and with our families, we were very careful in our paperwork to use the right terms, its not easy matching up western wedding customs with Vietnamese tradition, as I am sure you are aware. We are not legally married yet, only perhaps in the eyes of us and Huongs family. Thanks very much for your encouragement! I hope everything goes well!!!
