Im a US citizen but born in the Philippines. I plan to stay their in the country so I can be with my wife, but down the road will eventually petition my wife through DCF. My question is, do I just have to be residing in the Philippines for atleast 6 months, or do I have to file for dual citizenship aswell before filing? I'll be living with my brother who owns a place in the Philippines, so residency shouldnt be a problem because I do have joint bank acct with my wife their and pay internet bills. So would I be eligible? I still have my bank acct active in the states, and continue to my my bills in the states through the internet.

you need to have legal residence in the country... this usually means on some other type of visa entry other than tourist.... Dual citizenship is not a requirement.

YMMV

yeah you have to have some type of visa to stay in the philippines. i was able to get dual citizenship and I went to medical school in the philippines. I filed DCF for my husband too. The residency requirement when we filed was at least 6months. God bless!
