Yippee, I got my passport and visa back from the consulate yesterday!!! It is an IR-1 and it took two days. The brown envelope is actually quite heavy...about 1 kg....there goes my baggage allowance. I am leaving next week!!!!

I am not sure what form I need to fill out on the plane - does anyone know? It won't be the ETA (Visa Waiver) so I am abit unsure. Has anyone gone through this? Also, do you know how long it takes to go through immigration when I land because I have a close connecting flight.

Appreciate any info!

Congrats!

Just fill out a customs declaration form, nothing else. See: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation...ration_form.xml

When the cabin crew hand out forms on board just tell them you are a green card holder and they will give you the above form.

POE time varies depending on how busy the airport is. It took me about 2 hours because a flight from Vietnam had arrived before mine & there were quite a few people from that flight waiting to be processed before me. But I've heard of other people here speeding right through. At the immigration lines there is usually a airport staff member directing new arrivals to the correct lines & helping with forms. Show them your brown envelope and let them know you have a close connection and if it's busy they should be able to rush you through to the front of the line.

Congratulations!! IR-1/CR-1 only need to fill out the customs Declaration form, K visa holders need to fill out an I-94 and Customs Declaration.

My wife entered through JFK and the process took about 10 minutes and was very easy.
