I received my NOA 1 for K-1 visa on November 17, 2008. It is almost 6 months now and I haven't received anything in the mail. Everytime I check on the USCIS website, it said the case has been received and pending. I filed in California Service Center.

The few times I called the USCIS CS to ask about my status, they said the same thing as in the website. They won't check specifically for your case if it hasn't passed the normal waiting time that USCIS listed as 6 months.

I have seen some people in the forum already received their NOA 2 less than 6 months. Should I be worried or is this normal for the waiting time? Is there any other way to check on your status other than checking on USCIS websites or call the USCIS's CS? Is there something I should say to them so they want to check on your status instead of just saying what's it said on the USCIS website?

Thank's for any feedbacks.

As HelloWorld08 said. Find out which of your representatives has a GOOD immigration specialist on their staff and have them check on it.

Normally it's one of your senators. I used mine off and on thruout the entire process and they were HOT. They can't expedite but they can find out why it hasn't been adjucated and give it a bump!

Petitions do get misplaced and even lost.

After 6 months (and sometimes another 30 days) you can do a service request. I think that's one of the things that got my petition approved.

Not to hijack the thread, but in the interest of not starting a new one, what do I do if my citizenship is Washington D.C.? We don't have senators or rep's because the country thinks that half a million people don't need representation...

We have a non-voting member, but do you think USCIS will listen to him if he's not technically a senator?

You hi-jacked the thread anyway. You should post this in the main forum independently for more exposure.

Okay I am not in the same boat as you...YET....it has been almost 3 months and I have not heard anything as of yet, and I called the USCIS as well and they told me that the WHOLE PROCESS should be completed by 6-months and if I haven't heard anything by 6-months that they would have my case expediated...this is crazy!!

What is a service request? Is it a form that needed to fill out and where to send it to? where can I find the form?

Thank's

you have to call USCIS or maybe get a infopass appointment. USCIS won't budge until you hit about 6 months, possibly 7 because on the 6 month they tell you to wait another 30 days and then you can do a service request.
