Hello good people of VJ!

My Fiancee recently had her interview and they told her to pick up her visa at the US Embassy in one week.

Her mom wants to attend our wedding. My questions are the following:

What does she have to do? Apply for the B2 visa by mail? Should I apply for her over here in the US? Should she apply at the embassy? There is no embassy in the country she resides in, so going to the Embassy will be very costly to her.

Realistically, how likely is it she is going to get the visa?

She is married, 40, a citizen of Iran, and not wealthy. She also has 2 other children other than my Fiancee. She resides in Iran.

You dont file anything in the USA, mum files a DS-156 for a visitor's visa.

What country are your dealing with?? Profile details PLEASE: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...rCP&CODE=01

Moving this to US Consulate forum, since she is not applying for a K-1 visa.

Realistically? Very unlikely. :(
Depends on country, since the OP did not fill in profile details, there is no telling what the consulate may or may not do.

This varies by country.

OP specified Iran. I would say -- highly highly unlikely.

Or a long AP. (they go through Turkey)

Administrative processes are completed within six months or more and our office does not have any control over them.

Ankara Embassy on Iranian Visa

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I see that, I tend to scan the profile details on the left and N/A drives me nuts.

I have to say that it doesn't hurt to try even if the possibility of getting a visa is only .000099%. I think people just have to be mentally prepared for a denial so if they're not hurt and shocked if they don't get it and extremely ecstatic if they do.

This is incorrect. The foreign mother in law will always have to apply for a tourist visa on her own; and it will always take a hell of a lot of time. Once the wife becomes a USC, then she can apply to sponsor the mom to come over as a permanent resident. Subtle difference, but yet a big one.
