I think, the new version will take effect on sometime late July of this year. But there will be 3-month grace period in which the old version will be acceptable as well.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

So I should use the one from the USCIS website..

I would wait to get the I-864 form from NVC. I recommend that you go through the NVC flowchar which is available at the NVC forum. The NVC process has two tracks:

1) AOS Fee Bill ----> I-864

2) DS 3032 ----> IV Bill Fee ----> DS 230

Each track is independent of each other and finally they merge at the end. Track two is longer than track one. So you would not save that much time by filling out the I-864EZ (or I-864) from USCIS website. Of course, you can fill out one as a sample which you can use to fill out the one that will be sent by NVC. In the meantime, get your tax transcripts, letter from employer, W-2s ready.

We decided not to wait and sent in the "old" form this morning. I'll report back on its success (or lack of). ;)

I think, you will be fine. Again, it does not save that much time by sending it to NVC before one receives the I-864 from them. But at least, you took care of one thing.

I am going to send in the new form. I like it's structure and it's instructions much easier to comprehend.

I am not going to noterize and I am only sending in IRS transcripts. I am sending in the three previous years tax transcripts, because I already had ordered them.

I'll let you know how that goes.
