Background: AOS for spouse living in US with F-1 student visa.

One of the types of documentation requested for AOS is a copy of every page of my spouse's passport along with her visa. I understand this means making a photocopy of each and every page including all the entry stamps. She has a current passport and an old passport. Both have F-1 visas in them. I am concerned about only including her current passport in documentation -- let me try to illustrate the timeline for these passports and visas:

  • 1999 - Spouse is issued passport #1.
  • 2003 - Spouse is issued student visa #1 and this is attached to passport #1.
  • 2005 - Passport #1 expires, spouse gets new passport #2. Student visa #1 is still valid until 2008 so at this point she must carry passport #1 because it contains her visa, and of course she must carry passport #2 for ID & travel purposes.
  • 2008 - Student visa #1 expires, spouse gets new student visa #2, and this is attached to passport #2 -- she no longer *needs* to carry passport #1, but of course she still has it just in case.

Now it is 2009 and, if we only include her current passport #2 in documentation, USCIS may not be able to clearly see the full history of my spouse coming to the US as a student in 2003 (long before we met in 2007). They will only see the current visa which shows her being a student as of 2008, which is a year *after* she met me. The entry stamps also only go back to 2005, which is OK but it would be nice to show the full timeline going back to 2003 along with the original visa.

Should we be concerned about this? Can we include both old and current passports for the sake of thoroughness without getting frowns from whoever reviews our application?

Once again, huge thank you to anyone that can answer! :)

The are concerned about the visa/passport used at the most recent entry. You always have the option to provide more
