My income is above the poverty line for a family of two. But, basically, have not saved anything in the bank accounts. Will this be a problem once they see the low balance on the statement. Basically not even a $1000 in the accounts. will this be a problem? Do I need a co-sponsor??

Hi,

If you income is above the poverty line for your family size then you have nothing to worry about. Just send either Tax return and W2 for 2008 or the IRS transcript and a letter from your employer.

All we sent in was IRS transcript for last 3 tax years (though they only want one) and letter from employer. We did not send pay stubs or bank statements.

Good luck!

If your income is above the guidelines and is documented (employer letter, check stubs, recent tax return) you do not need to give bank information at all. Leave it blank, same with asset information

All the people I know who have had their interviews (doesn't mean every case I hear from this website), didn't mention anything about how much the petitioners had in their accounts. Since you meet "125% above the poverty line" requirement, do like the others told you to do and just leave it blank. Good luck!
