Hi all!

I am new to this site and I've been looking over the forum for assistance but I would prefer to just post a question to get direct guidance right now! I feel so overwhelmed with all that needs to be done and I just want to make sure it is all done correctly.

1. First of all, do the (the petitioner) copies of my birth certificate and passport need to be notarized?

2. What needs to be included from my fiance (petitioner)?

G 325 A signed and dated, 2 Passport photos signed on the back, and letter of intent signed and dated

Is this correct or is there more he needs to send me?

I am just clarifying because I have papers from a lawyer stating we both need a list of addresses from the previous 5 years, job titles and addresses of employers; last address of residence outside the U.S; petitioner and beneficiary birth cert; medical exam of beneficiary; letters from both of our employers stating how much we make as well as income tax returns from the past 3 years.

I just want to make extra sure that I do not need these items initially. Are they included down the line in the process and I just mail them to the beneficiary? What else will I need to send him? I should make copies of everything he sends me along with everything I send, what about the signatures?

I just want to make sure I have every single thing needed for the I-129 package.

Thank you all for your help!!!!

A lot of that stuff your lawyer told you that you should have you do indeed need to properly fill out the G325-A. The beneficiary will need to have a medical exam, but that comes after you file the I-129F. You'll also need to prove that the petitioner can support the beneficiary, and letters from an employer are one way to do that.

The lawyer is trying to confuse you and scare you so you will use his service and pay his fee. Aren't they great?

The US citizen is the petitioner. The foreign fiancee is the beneficiary. The USC will need to send a copy (not notarized) of his birth certificate for proof of citizenship OR a copy of his passport (all pages) either will do. Also both will provide a G-325a (last five years where you lived and worked and some other family data) and a "fiance(e) letter of intent" from both of you. Use the excellent examples here. He will also send a brief description of how you met in person (at least one time) and some evidence to support this...photos, passport stamps, boarding passes, etc. Also a passport photo of each of you.

The foreign beneficairy presents birth certificate later, medical later, proof of financial support later, etc. By then you will have read all the guides and read the forums many times and you will see this process is in three basic "steps" beginning with the filing of the petition by the US citizen. Other than signing the G-325a and the fiancee intent letter, there is very little for the foreign beneficairy to do in this step. Your turn is next at the interview.

Oh, if either of you is divorced, you need to file a copy of your divorce document with the petition, almost forgot.

Thank you, yes, I think that is why I got so overwhelmed! So, just to clarify, when does the US Petitioner submit the financial records?

I also so a post from you in regards to the G-325a form. Does he (my foreign fiance) send the 4 forms all signed and dated to me and I send all 4 of his forms with all 4 of my forms?

If I make a copy of these, they will obviously not be the original signature, is that going to be ok down the line?

The financial information is presented at the visa interview, it is usually sent to the foreign fiance who brings it to the interview.

The G-325a is a four part form. He fills out his his, signs it and sends it to you. You fill out yours, sign it. Send both with your I-129f petition. You can make a copy for your files, but the forms submitted must be original signature.

I found in this process it is best if only ONE person completes the forms. As you see, the attorney you spoke to agrees with me (not that I consider it a ringing endorsement) He asked for this information, he did not ask for you to complete the forms. I suggest you do the same. Print and send (or email) the finace letter of intent from this site and change the appropriate names. Give it to your finace..say "sign here" Give him TWO of these letters to sign. Give him TWO blank G-325a forms. Say..."sign here". Collect the information from him and fill out ONE of them. Keep the other signed, blank form just in case. If your whole file goes missing in the mail, you will have all the original signatures you need to make a new one in 15 minutes and have it in the mail.

When you send this, do not consider for even one second saving the price of certified mail. Throughout the process use ONLY certified mail (return receipt) or some other form of delivery service with delivery confirmation for anything sent to anyone. (UPS or FedEx)

Thank you, I'm confused though when you say have him sign TWO of the four G-325a forms? Don't I have to send in all 4 of his and all 4 of mine, completely filled out and all 4 of his signed and all 4 of mine signed? I understand what you mean about ONE person filling out all the forms, and I can do that...I just don't understand if all 4 of the forms must go with the packet or not? Then, have him sign TWO letters of intent so that I can mail one and then have one as back up? Thank you so much for your assistance!!!!!!!!!!

it basically means print two G325a's, each consisting of the 4 pages, have the beneficiary sign both versions. then fill out one G325a and sent it in with the other stuff. the 2nd version is just as back up, uscis likes to loose forms at time and having a back up with original signature will make it a lot easier and quicker...
