Moving this to the regional forum.

Note you do not need to change name in passport until you renew the passport, you can travel using passport in maiden name simply book airline tickets in passport name, and use green-card to re-enter the USA, some carry a copy of marriage cert to show name change.

Unfortunately if you want to change the name on your passport you need to reapply for a new passport... no simple name changes can be done. If your passport has several years left before it expires, you may want to consider just waiting. As for the pictures, yes! Passport Canada is quite picky. Make sure they are Canadian passport size, otherwise they'll be rejected.

Mine was coming up for renewal in July, and I just sent mine away. The first time I my package in, it was returned. Shadows in the picture, and my guarantor didn't word that she had seen the original of my ID, just signed it. So back it came. Once I sent it back in, it was processed and back to me within a week! Very fast. They sent me back my original birth certificate and marriage license as well as my old passport with punch holes through it.

I've used my passport for the last 2 years with my married name just on my GC and marriage license when travelling. My old passport just had my maiden name in it. So, like Huggles said, unless it's coming up for you to get a new one, you don't want to be paying for a new one just to have your name changed.
