This page contains lots of information and the links on the left will take you to links for the required vaccinations sheet:

http://panelphysicians.com/Pages/TheMedical.htm

From reading the medical link(thanks!) I have to wait for a letter before booking an appointment. I was hoping to knock that off the list on a trip to Toronto this summer.

For the police checks is it as simple as going to the RCMP station and requesting a background check? Then have it mailed to me?

Recently most panel physician's require that you have the interview letter to book I think, however it wouldn't hurt for you to call one and double check - let them know your I-130 has been approved (assuming it will be before you go to Toronto) and ask if they will let you book.

Police Checks

Inside Canada

There are two types of police checks:

Canada wide name check (Certificate of no conviction)

Full fingerprint version (Certified Criminal Record Check)

Canada-wide name check

These can be obtained at your local police station or RCMP office. The name check only takes a week or two, sometimes they can be obtained on the spot. Prices for police checks vary from station to station. When requesting this service, inform the agent that you are seeking a Canada wide police check for immigration purposes.

Important: It should note that the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or the national criminal records repository was searched using the applicant’s name and date of birth

Note: If you obtain your police check from the RCMP please note that there is a difference between "Criminal Record Check" and "Canadian Police Certificate" the Canadian Police Certificate has been found to be accepted.

Full fingerprint version

Applicants who have been convicted of a crime in Canada must contact their local RCMP office to obtain a “Certified Criminal Record Check,” which lists an applicant’s criminal history, indicating the section of the Canadian Criminal Code under which the applicant was charged, the disposition of the case, and the penalty imposed, if any. Obtaining a Certified Criminal Records Check requires submission of a fingerprint chart; the RCMP could take between two and twelve months to process a request for a Certified Criminal Record Check.

Is there a checklist linked anywhere for all the items I will need for the entire process?

I found one for all the items to bring when I file the I -130 at the consulate but what about the rest of the process? Does it just follow the k1 cr1 lines?

I just want to have everything lined up as much as possible so the turnaround time on my part is much faster.

Thanks

It is in the link elsoar gave you earlier, http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ost&id=9841

One thing you can do now to ensure things go as quick as possible is to start preparing your stuff for the Packet 3, so get any police records checks that you're going to need, and then after that you can start preparing your information for the I-864 (collecting evidence that the USC is reestablishing domicile and has a continuing job or sufficient assets to support you, plus a cosponsor if needed), and also collect documentation that you have the needed vaccinations already done (or go and get them done at your doctor or clinic now so they will be covered under your health plan), etc. I posted a copy of my Packet 3 from Montreal over on another thread - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;pid=2721128 - so you can refer to that until your own copy arrives with your MTL number.

Good luck!

I had my appointment this morning in Halifax.

Arrived at 8:35 am handed in our paper work and waited. One other family in there for passports. We also filed for my sons consular report of birth abroad. Out the door at 10:05 am.

Now I just wait.

VJ member Elsoar actually did DCF and she is having her interview today - you can look at her timeline here http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=63209

Basically it was about 4 and a half months from the time she submitted her I-130 until her interview in Montreal.

She did actually post some things (above) you can get together, the paperwork for the I-864 affidavit of support (proof of U.S. domicile for your wife - IRS transcripts for the last 3 years) and any supporting documents you need for the DS-230 (for the beneficiary)

Birth Certificate

Court and Prison Records

Deportation Documentation

Marriage Certificate

Marriage Termination Documentation

Military Records

Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

Police Certificate(s)

I think I have all that info ready except for the police check.

What is the Valid Passport Biographic Data Page?

And the whole proof of domicile thing. How does one go about that when we all live in Canada? She didn't pay any taxes last year or file because she didn't work.

They put the "visa" inside you Cdn passport. I belive the official statement is that ur Cdn passport must be valid for at least 6 months! Mine was good for about a yr, BUT i still went and got a new 1. Guy at the passport desk asked why I wanted to renew it soo early, I explained the situation, and he was ok with it!

and for domicile: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=203242

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
