Ok i got the answer as to why my fiance paid 5000 extra, a total of P15,454 for her medical fee yesterday May 6....I feel stupid and silly for doubting her one bit... :crying: I know all along that she was trustworthy...She have shown it to me after 5 years of knowing each other, I was afraid for a minute that she had a different side of her that I never knew. As it turned out it was all a big misunderstanding. This is what happened... :star:

Today, she went back to St. Luke for the vaccination or immunization part of the process. The person who attended to her informed her that she also paid for the cervical cancer or anti cervical cancer vaccine and that this is not required, apparently whoever helped her yesterday probably recommended that she should take this , she said she thought all of the vaccines are included in the price. Anyway this vaccine is a series of 3 shots that is taken within the span of 6 months. The second shot would be administered after two months of the first shot and the 3rd and last shot after 4 months of the second shot. They told her today this is not included in the medical exam fee of $213.35 because it's very expensive. It is P5,000 per shot. She already paid for the initial shot yesterday. So that explains the DISCREPANCY. To make this whole story short....After calling me and talking this over we decided to cancel the anti cervical cancer vaccine shot because she can get it for free under my insurance, as oppose to paying 5,000 x 3 a total of 15,000 for the vaccine if taken there at St Luke's. Holy cow that's 3 Benjamins...I was happy she was able to get the refund for the vaccine, otherwise we would have gone through with it and would have end up paying P10,000 on top of it for the two booster shots that would have followed......Yes indeed you guys are right all along medical fee is still $213.35  , unless for some reason you opted to get the anti-cervical cancer vaccine....

Shots are included on the fees. I got shots I had Varicella too even I had chicken pox when I was kid. When I came here and having my immunization they told me not to had that Varicella. Oh well... Anti-cervical cancer cause $150 in US. she will be under your insurance, that will be good. Cause our insurance HPV is not included. hmp!

yes, all vaccine is free except for that particular one, which is new...That's whay my fiance thought to, that all vaccine at st. luke is free but not the anti cervical cancer, I'm pretty sure you didn't take that one unless you paid 5,000 per shot and taken it 3 within 6 month period(I understand the skeptisism but none of that matter now)

In my case I paid PHP10,454.15 (213.35 X 49).

NO ANY ADDITIONAL AMOUNT TO PAY. ALL THE SHOTS (including HPV) WERE ALREADY INCLUDED IN THE MEDICAL FEE ($213.35). Vaccinations are age and gender specific. The HPV Human papillomavirus (anti cervical) vaccine should be given to females 11 through 26 years of age.

I am conducting a little survey here  . This is only for people who had their medical exam done on the Month of May 2009.

We had the 2nd day of our medical exam @SLMCEC last May4...I met 2 new friends. They were given the anti cervical cancer shots. I started to wonder why I wasn't given that shot. I asked them how much they paid they said Php10,454.15. They advised me to ask the assigned physician. As much as possible, I want to complete the vaccination requirements (I will need for AOS- adjustment of status) while I am here in PI and since I already paid for it because I know in US the price is way expensive. So I took the courage to asked the physician, she explained to me that all the shots given depends on the age and gender. The HPV Human papillomavirus (anti cervical) vaccine should be given to females 11 through 26 years of age.

sjquin, fate's blessing is right. yesterday i asked the st lukes supervisor exactly about this whole anti cervical cancer thing. she said they will only give the shots to people 26 yrs and below and the anti cervical cancer shot is ALREADY INCLUDED in the P10,454.15 medical fee. there is no need to pay an additional 5 thou for it. however, people over 26 yrs old will not be given the anti cervical cancer shots.

Coz I went to SLEC yesterday, May 6, and the fee was just PHP10,420.

That's within a couple of pesos of what my honey paid last week.

the amount varies from time to time depending on the dollar rate, but the difference in amount is very minimal probably between 100-200 pesos , this is what the slec cashier told me. nevertheless, the anti cervical cancer shot is already included in the medical fees and will be given to people 26 yrs old and below as what i explained in my post above.
