Well, we just got back from London. Long day. We are approved pending one single piece of paper which we should have today or tomorrow. They didn't ask my husband anything at all other than which countries he has lived in before. Other than that, we are really happy that after we send them this piece of paper it is all over.

What did they want? I've done a lot of prep but it sounded like you had too, so I don't want to fall into the same trap.

My husband worked as a contractor for the US Government in Bosnia, and we didn't think we needed to get a police certificate. We were wrong. We are getting a letter from his employer stating that he was under military orders to be there and that he lived on a US Army base and not on the economy. They said that this will be as good as a police certificate.

Hopefully we will have it soon and we can get it and the passport back to the embassy soon. So that we can go home.

Thanks for that.

Brett is a USGov contractor too, but he's never spent 6 months in any country other than the UK so we should be okay. I've got my fingers crossed for you. It's like leaving school at the end of term, everyone's growing up!

Yvie - how was your trip to Rome?

On another note - can anyone confirm whether the affidavits need to be stamped (by a solicitor) and dated around the time of an RFE? I am trying to be prepared in case they come back to me with a RFE and I was thinking of getting the affidavits done beforehand, but am worried that they might want them with current dates.

No they don't, as long as they contain the I swear statement that is in the RFE paperwork. If you get an RFE for affidavits, you will see what I mean.

I finally got the email confirmation from the Embassy yesterday! Now I just have to sit and wait! I am getting so impatient. It took them 3 weeks to issue the email. I was beginning to think I wasn't going to get one.

The Embassy do seem very slow at the moment. I sent my packet 3 in on June 17th and still haven't had an interview date. I called the extortion line last week, they did the usual and couldn't tell me anything just gave me one of their e-mail codes. No reply from the email as yet. I phoned DOS yesterday, was starting to panic that they'd lost packet 3 or that interview letter was lost in the post. DOS were far more helpful, and very friendly too, they confirmed my packet 3 was fine and that I am eligible for an intervew date, it just hasn't been set yet. So we all just keep on waiting, doesn't seem to be a lot else we can do...unless Yvie will share with us the name of the visa official she bribed! lol

Wow Moretti - that is a long time to wait for an interview date. I sent my I-130 in just a few days after you and I thought I was waiting a long time. Its so frustrating. I am finding it hard to plan for the future when you just don't know how long things will take. Yvie's timeline is amazing! Maybe things will pick up soon. I guess having the 4th July holiday didn't help matters.

Sorry for being daft, but what does DOS stand for? I am glad that they were able to give you some indication of what is happening. Let's hope you hear from them soon!

I wish I could! I feel ever so guilty when I see people filing or returning P3s only days or a few weeks after me and getting caught up in the most horrible delays :( It's been pure luck from start to finish.

My interview is next week and I'm convinced that we've had an easy ride and they're gonna make me sweat or deny me at the Embassy
