Okay, medical forms time.

The first yes/no question asks whether or not I've ever been hospitalised. In 1996/97 I was taken by ambulance to A&E after a car accident, but I was out in a few hours once my broken arm had been plastered. I was taken (again by ambulance) in 2001 following an armed robbery when they thought I may have been suffering from shock, but I left without treatment after a few hours of being ignored in the waiting room. Finally, last year I had an elective procedure which involved being checked into hospital from 9am-3pm.

I've never been sent because of a disease and I've never stayed overnight, so do I put yes or no?

I was thinking about leaving it blank and explaining on the day, but now my nerves are getting the better of me and I'm not sure what to do.

Any thoughts?

I would just tick yes, and then when they go through the check list with you and ask about it, you can explain. I think this would be better, so they do not think you are trying to hide anything.

I asked the same Q in the UK forums and Aidy answered. Apparently his wife works for the NHS and said that it's only hospitalisation if you were admitted to a ward and stayed overnight. His medical is the same day as yours too, btw :)

I think I'm going to leave it blank and take a letter explaining my hospital visits and approximate dates, so when it's questioned it won't look like I've tried to hide anything. I'd rather that than have a form with a "yes" box ticked and corrected when it should have been a "no."

I swear, I have never been so paranoid in my life as I have over the last few months. I'm not usually the sort who cares what people think of me (life's too short for all that rubbish), but I've been full of "what if"s and "that might look funny"s for ages now. It's exhausting!

Bear in mind that what the NHS defines as hospitalised may not be what the DOS defines it as. Personally, I would check "yes" and put down what the admissions were for (perhaps not the time you went to hospital for shock but were not admitted though). As you say, none of these were for a disease so in the interests of full disclosure you really should mention these.

My husband was in the hospital twice, both for non-disease issues (including a harrowing visit to a dental hospital in Russia!) -- one was an overnight stay, another was for a half day. He was asked about them but after giving a brief description it was not mentioned again. Good luck! :)

Yes Yvie good luck with the medical.

Well we have some bad news and some good news.

Originally my husbands medical was scheduled for the 7th of June. Things has since changed, and he is going to reschedule it tomorrow. That of course is the bad news. The good news is, he has to reschedule it for a sooner date because his interview is on the 7th of July. I received an email from the embassy today telling me that packet 4 went out in the mail today with the 7th as the interview date. I was gobsmacked. And we want to have the medical done and dusted before the interview, so that he does not get approved pending medical results. Hopefully, they still have some available appointments.

Hope that everyone elses goes as quickly.

Firstly, thanks! My blood pressure is historically low (currently 96/58) so that's the only thing I'm really worried about... having said that, hopefully being worried about it will stress it into increasing, lol. I'll let you know all about it when I get back.

Secondly, congratulations again. I just can't get over how quick that was! What did you put down as your travel date? I rang them on the off chance (you never know), but was just told that we'll find out in the next 5-7 weeks - it sounded like a pretty stock reply so we'll see what happens :)

well, on the form, we put our travel date as the 20th of July. I also sent them an email on the 22nd of June, as our house in Texas has been broken into and I asked if we could get an appointment date sooner. The reply to the email was today and it just said that an interview letter had been sent out today with an interview date of the 7th. My brother was not able to fix the back door, the point of entry as the policeman called it, he has nailed a board over the door. He is staying there temporarily to keep a watch on it, but he has to report to his new duty station by the 8th of July. So my house is going to be sitting empty and available to all to get into. I am going crazy

I just posted my I-130 forms on June 22nd and realised that I might have sent it to the wrong address. I stupidly went to the link on the bottom of the checklist where it said mail/post petition to and found the 24 Grosvenor Sq address and sent it there, but now I just looked at the checklist again and saw this address in the top right hand corner:

U.S. Department of Homeland Security

American Embassy-London

P.O. Box 2444

London W1A 5WT

Can anyone confirm if my envelope will actually make it there? I am so stupid. I have spent so much time completing it, making sure it was all correct and then I do this! What an idiot! Has anyone else sent it to this address? I have spent hours reading and re-reading the checklists and forms and then miss this.

Any suggestions as to what I should do?
