Hi,

Getting ready to send in my package next week and a little worried we do not have enough evidence. Im the PR, husband is the USC.

My husband was married with kids before he met me (divorced when we met) and still has heavy alimony and child support payments. For this reason we keep a lot of our finances seperate. What we decided to do when we married was the open a joint account and put x amount into it each month for joint paymnets, (rent (later mortgage) bills groceries etc). We both maintain our own savings and checking accounts though. (this is partly to protect my money from his ex). Will this be a problem?

We also do not really have joint credit cards. We do have a joint AMEX but I never really use mine. Should I just copy the fronts of the cards to show they are the same account, but not send any statements (which would show I dont really use mine)? Or just not bother at all?

Also, I cannot get my 2008 tax transcript, I call every week but its not ready and wont be ready in time. Can I just send it the paperwrok from our tax return that we submitted instead?

Heres what we do have. Any advice would be very helpful.

Copy of greencard, passports, marriage licence, paperwork, checks etc.

Copy of joint account statements

Tax return transcripts for 2007. Copy of 2008 tax return that we sent in.

Copy of leases from when we rented 2 apartments.

Copy of Mortgage paperwork when we bought an apartment

Copy of mortage statements, and mortgage payslips. (should I also copy some old checks we send to pay mortgage from joint account?)

Copy of refi papers when we refinanced to lower our rate.

Copy of cable bill, electric bills, maintenace bills (for our co-op)

Letter from his HR dept to say that I am on his health insurance policy at work (and copy of the cards)

Letter from his HR at work to say that I am benificary to his life insurance at work, and his 401K.

Payslips to same address.

Copy of netflix account

Boarding passes for a trip to Europe in 2007, email confirmation of flights booked to europe for december 2009.

Pictures of us with friends, family and just us. Lots of locations.

Copies of our DL showing same address.

Letter from our apartment addressed to both with a noise complaint from our construction project.

3 affidavits, from his brother, his best friend and my collegue.

Holiday cards, anniversary cards, wedding annoucment in the paper, thank you notes etc...

Lots of seperate mail to each of us, but showing the same addresses (we lived in 3 places since AOS)

Anything I am forgetting? No car, so no insurance. What else could I send them?

Thanks so much,

You both got state IDs showing same address? State ID is basically the same as driver license, just without the privilege to drive. Just a suggestion.

Thanks, I called the IRS again yesterday, and we are not even processed in the system yet, so dont think the transcript can come in time.

We do have the DL with the same address, my husband is a full DL, but mine is just the ID card, as I hate driving!

Anything else I should find?

If the transcripts can't come on time, you can send in the W2 together with the return paper that you submitted to IRS. They must be together and state the fact that the transcript can't come on time on your cover letter. Did you file tax by mail or online? If by mail, you two must both sign the return in order for it to be effective. If online, then no need to sign because IRS uses your GI from last year as proof of your identity. So send in W2 and return paper together, don't worry about the transcript.
