Hi all!

i am not a very active VJ member but i have been following all the posts that were of great help. i truly appreciate. well i am here with a good news that i have recieved my EAD today. my EAD was approved with in just one month. :dance: My AOS is still pending and i just hope it would go smooth like EAD.

I have a Q regarding SSN as i ve applied for ssn today and the lady there said that it would take few weeks and we can contact them if we dont get ssn within 60 days. How long does it usually take to get a SSN?? i am here on K3 visa. any idea when i would be getting it!

*08.02.05 recveived NOA1

*10.17.05 received NOA2

*11.01.05 colombia's embassy received package

*12.05.05 interview date

*12.06.05 recieved VISA

*12.20.05 came to U.S.A!!!!

*12.28.05 applied for a Social Security

*01.05.06 received Social Security card =)

*02.11.06 married....

*03.03.06 package arrived at unit (Chicago,il 60699)

*03.18.06 NOA1 for AOS & EAD (notice date 03.08.06)

*05.12.06 EAD APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*05.17.06 EAD approval notice mail it, from USCIS office...and AOS touched again....

*06.19.06 we received my husband's GREEN CARD!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on the EAD.

As far as the SSN, it is anybody's guess. Did the lady indicate to you whether you were in the SAVE system? If not, the office needs to send a form to DHS to verify your immigration status, and this process may take 4 to 6 weeks, or even months.

regarding the SSN# if you are in the SAVE system it should be 2 weeks from then..

It took my husband FOUR weeks of hassle and problem to get his social security number. He had to go to SS I think it was 3 times and the local DHS office once before it finally got sorted. He lost one job over it as they wouldn't hire him without it. He got his EAD quickly- it only took 2 months.

PS. he has a K-3 visa and we've just applied for the AOS as well.

Ok, so here's something I didnt know, I can apply for an SSN number as a K3? How did I miss this?

All along I had thought that until I got AOS I couldn't! OK, I have it now, I didn't apply for EAD so it's not applicable, which is what I thought, ho hum. Let the waiting continue. Congrats on your speedy EAD!

We are about to file soon and I'm still totally confused on the local office/Chicago lockbox thing. I know AOS goes through Chicago first but what about EAD? I'm not sure where to look to get an estimated timeline of how long it will take to get James EAD :(

Congrats on your EAD. I'm also on a K3 visa here. I got my EAD but am still waiting for my SSN. I made a INFOPASS for July 11th to hopefully get put into the SAVE system or figure out what is taking so long. Have a look at my timeline.
