My SO snores like a freight train. I've given up trying to get him to quit snoring. I've tried the.... elbowing him in the ribs, putting my hand over his mouth so he'll wake up, going to sleep before him! ( doesn't work coz i'm a light sleeper and the least wee sound wakes me up) tried the foam ear plugs (they work great but, i wouldn't be able to hear my alarm go off to get up for work). In the end, i ended up going to the spare room, better than having to deal with his snoring.

Separated!!

What you want to do is build up your throat muscles by playing a Didgeridoo like this one pictured above. My friend Chris who lives in Tijuana, Mex. did this and the guy stopped snoring. I'm ordering one so that my snoring stops as well.

I took a heavy steroid once - Prednizone (60 mg.) and that completely wiped out my snoring, allergies, everything in 2 days. Going off of Prednizone was tough (as with any steroid). Especially 60 mgs. of the stuff when your body only produces 5 mg. naturally.

I am a snorer, it's true, and I have been banished more than once from the bedroom. What does work for me is the Pure Sleep (as seen on TV!). It takes a couple of nights to get used to, and you do need to replace them every 6 months or so, but they work. If your husband has a strong gag reflex, it will definitely take a few nights to get used to, trust me.

I suggest slapping, kicking, and pushing him off the bed. I am fond of the slap or kick until the person wakes up method. Normally I try kicking first so I don't have to roll over. I'm lazy like that while trying to sleep.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

Thanks everyone. :)

I think I'm going to try the Pure Sleep. I personally think Chris needs to have his nose redone by a plastic surgeon because he really can't breathe through it. He doesn't like doctors.

Ashamedly . . . . . . last night I tried pulling his nostrils opens with my fingers to get the airflow going through there. He stopped snoring long enough to say "Stop doing that."

my husband mumbles in his sleep.. nothing coherent but enough noise to be annoying :P

sometimes, although he hasn't in awhile, he kicks in his sleep.. he says he is having a dream where he is kicking someone or something.. one time when he was sleeping on this tiny little bench in my hospital room, he kicked himself right of the bench.. scared the heck out of me ...lol

My wife wants me to go see a doctor. I told her that I was evaluated for sleep apnea around 2001 and I didn't have it. Of course, she says having an evaluation eight years ago doesn't count. :P

I don't think my issue stems from sleep apnea, however. The last time I had an MRI, my dad told me that not only do I have a deviated septum, but a fairly large nasal polyp (although I can't remember which side it's on).

Put those two together and breathing through the nose can be difficult. As it is, I can barely breathe through my nose at all and I have difficulty picking up smells and taste.

Sounds like corrective surgery would improve your lifestyle.
