Mmmmm. This stress is fun. >.<

Ok........I just found a post, somewhere in these forums, regarding Birth Certificates. So maybe someone can confidently clarify this for me. =) Have I mentioned you guys rock?

Do I, as the U.S. citizen/petitioner, need to send my Fiancee an original copy of my birth certificate for her interview? I had already submitted one in the initial packet sent to the CSC here in the states.

Or will a photocopy of my Birth Certificate suffice?

I really appreciate any input you all have. Thanks!!

All I can tell you is; My OH sent me his original and I got a copy of it - at interview when I presented them, the CO who took all the original docs (with their copies), said it wasn't needed. What he ACTUALLY said was 'what are these? *laugh* I don't want those' I also had his previous mcert and divorce cert originals..I think he took the divorce cert but not the mcert.

I sent alex (my fiance) originals of EVERYTHING. We haven't had our interview yet, It's July 20. But I'll definately let you know. Do you have your interview date? If it's before ours it wont do you much good to have my input, but if it's after, definately will pass the info on.

Japple,

Most people follow the I-129f petition instructions and submit a photocopy of their birth certificate (or other evidence of US citizenship) with their petition. Then, since a USCIS or DoS officer can at any time ask to see the original to verify the photocopy, they send the original to their fiance(e) to have at the visa interview in case it's asked for. (Consular officers will often do a spot check of one document or another.)
