I've been a member since January and never took the time to introduce myself. Sorry.

Anyways, I'm Denise, from Brazil, and my fiance is Richard, the American one. We met online through a mutual friend a month before I went to America on a J-1 Visa (in 2006). Two months later we were dating and here we are, engaged.

I was living in California, he lived in New York. It wasn't so hard to meet up because his family was from California so he would visit often, but we all know how hard long distance relationships can be. In 2007 he was deployed to Iraq and stayed there for 15 months, during which we only saw each other for 2 weeks (yeah, it sucked!). He visited Brazil and met my family for the first time in December/2008, when he proposed. No need to mention we are sooo done with distance. We have a non-legal wedding ceremony scheduled for the 3rd of July here in Brazil, we just can't wait!

I'm just glad I found this website full of people in the same situation I am right now. It's good to know I'm not alone. Nice to meet you all. :)

06-14-2009: NVC letter received in the mail

07-02-2009: Packet 4 received

08-27-2009: Interview - Visa approved!

09-21-2009: we got married!

We met thru Cherry Blossoms last Aug 2007.
