Damn, that is a lot of reading. Slate's writeups on the possible candidates is very interesting. I'm up to Leah Ward Sears and so far just she and Cass Sunstein sound good.

Sotomayor sounds troubling for this reason....

One of her more controversial moves was a ruling last year in a New Haven, Conn., affirmative action case that allowed the city to scuttle the results of a firefighter promotions test because no African-Americans could pass the test. Not only was the opinion controversial on its face, but it was less than one page long and seemed to duck the hard issues, prompting a strong call by 2nd Circuit Judge Jose Cabranes for the Supreme Court to hear the case—as the justices did at the end of April.

And ####### is wrong with Diane Woods?

On First Amendment grounds, in 2004 Wood ruled against a city's ban of a convicted sex offender from its parks, after he admitted to cruising for children there but left without molesting them.

As a (new) resident of Illinois I strongly believe that all 50 of these United States should be subjected to the same shenanigans that we Illinoisians must put up with.

If there was a way to get Blagojevich through confirmation hearings, I'd nominate him! (jk)
