Yes they have to go for a interview.

No you do not have to attend the interview

The fee is

I-864 - $70 (one payment covers both parents)

DS-230 - $400 (each, this includes $45 security fee)

Cost of medical - This is country spesific.

Police Certificate - Cost varries from country to country

Forms needed

I-864 Affidavit of Support (one for each parent)

DS-3032 Choice of Agent (one for each parent)

DS-3032 and the DS-230 are Department of state forms you can download them here http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html

You will have to Pay $355 for the I-130 that you send to USCIS once the I-130 has been approved it is passed to the National Visa Center there you will have to submit the DS-3032 (no fee) then you will be asked to pay the Affidavit of Support Fee $70.00 and then you will be asked to pay the DS-230 Immigrant visa fee $400.00.

There is also the cost of the medical that he will need to get done and the cost of any vaccinations he needs and also the cost incured at the embassy. You also need to remember the cost of mailing all the documents that will be required, photo copying, photographs for the NVC and for the medical. So in all you will be looking at over $1000.00.

Hi honey19_sweety28!!

Here in VisaJourney, take a look at the forum "I-130 Progress List." Most of the people in that forum are applying for their parents and there's even a timeline. It should give you an estimate on how long the process for parent's I-130 approval is.

If you're looking for IR5 experiences, then just type that up on the search box and a few parents' experiences will come up.

Good luck!!!

If you and your husband sponsor, you would need to show enough income for four people.

just you, three.

You would check the poverty level (i-864P) for the year you file. (which will have to wait till you become an USC)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Okay, I know I'll have to be a citizen to apply, but I'm already getting information about so I can prepare myself and know what to expect. ;)

As I saw (just as a base, if I was to apply this year) it would be $ 27,562. Do I have to prove that me and my husband produced this amount of money in the last year, in the last three years...?? What is their requirement?

Thanks again!

You will need to be able to show that you had this level of income last year and that it will continue for this year. You have to send last years tax return and also letter from your employer and paystubs to show it is continuing. Or if you do not have enough income you can use assets and income.

I understand how it works now... And I'll definetely need a co-sponsor to bring my mom here since I'll be still studying and I don't want to wait longer than 2011 to apply for my mom to come.

Thank you very much for the info!
