That said, I wonder why the baby's mother ever hung out with garbage like this to begin with. Worth noting, perhaps, that the victim's father is currently incarcerated (or so I read in the local newspaper). Seems Mom's a bit of a trouble magnet. Better judgement on her part and this little boy would be alive and well today.

This is horrible news. I just can't understand how a person is able to do such a thing. How heartless do you have to be? Well, heartless.

OPD Killer Tied To Rape On Same Day As Shootings

DNA tests link the man who fatally shot four Oakland police officers to at least one rape that happened earlier in the day, authorities said Monday evening.

Lovelle Mixon's DNA matched evidence taken from one of two women who reported being sexually assaulted at gunpoint on the morning of March 21, Officer Jeff Thomason said.

That was the same day that two motorcycle officers were slain during an afternoon traffic stop and two more ambushed while storming an apartment where Mixon was hiding.

The DNA results for one of the women were inconclusive, according to Thomason. "But, given that the victims were together and assaulted by the same person, one can assume that Mixon was the perpetrator of both assaults," he said.

Thomason said that on the day before the rape and killings, DNA also had linked the 26-year-old Mixon to the February rape of a young girl.
