Michael Savage not welcome to the UK

Sixteen people banned from entering the UK were "named and shamed" by the Home Office today.

...

The list of the 16 "least wanted" includes radio talk show host Michael Savage, real name Michael Weiner.

"This is someone who has fallen into the category of fomenting hatred, of such extreme views and expressing them in such a way that it is actually likely to cause inter-community tension or even violence if that person were allowed into the country," Ms Smith [Home Secretary] told BBC Breakfast.

Savage: Shame on you, England!

Savage's immediate reaction upon hearing the news was typically wry.

"Darn! And I was just planning a trip to England for their superior dental work and cuisine," he recalled thinking.

...

Savage said his message for Smith and the people of the U.K. is, "Shame on you. Shame that you've fallen to such a low level."

"It's interesting to me that here I am a talk show host, who does not advocate violence, who advocates patriotic traditional values – borders, language, culture – who is now on a list banned in England," Savage said. "What does that say about the government of England? It says more about them than it says about me."

...

Said Savage, "How can a nation put me on a list and leave hate preachers in England who say that we're going to kill all of you? We're going to convert all of you to Islam. How is it possible that those hate preachers can't be deported from Britain, but I can be banned from Britain? People who advocate actual murder cannot be deported from Britain.

"How is it that liberalism has gotten so distorted and cowardly?"

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Yeah, there are some very dodgy decisions going on in the name of liberalism in the UK. Don't worry though, there's an election soon and the former tories, (who are now the labour party in disguise) will probably wrest power away from 'new labour' (who are more tory than the tories) and the show will go on - just got to watch out for those evil BNP people in the Euros.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Maybe the UK doesn't want their country to end up like the liberal US. Actually there are a hell of a lot of nations who have such do-not-enter lists.

Which does reinforce points I have made before about the first amendment and what people think of it overseas. Definitely a case of thanks but no thanks.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Isn't it because the imams spewing hate are British or are legal residents? The UK can keep out whomever they wish- the U.S. has a had harder time doing that due to a porous border and a greater tolerance for even extremist viewpoints in the name of Consitutional freedoms.

Banning people can have the opposite affect than the intended. I don't know anything about Savage and doubt that in the UK he would have much power to incite hatred but they stopped that Dutch git from showing his film in the Lords too, which I think had the affect of giving more air time to the Dutch git and his odd views.

yes...and most of them are either in prison, not allowed back in the UK (after voluntarily leaving the UK) or in the case of Abu Hamza, extradited to the US for a terror trail.

Incidentally, Louis Farakkhan and various members of the Nation of Islam are also banned from entering the UK

The irony here is that out of all the people I have spoken to in the world, Brits are the most outspoken about the US.

Don't count out the folks from Down Under. Both countries tend to churn out experts on how America should be run- especially if they've never been to the U.S. before. They shout the loudest of all.
