ok you say we have to meet at least once... so if we meet once i have a good chance of filing for a K1... and be approved..?

Simple answer, yes. You would need to take pictures and keep all reciepts of travel.

I can only guess at what your circumstances are. It would seem you live in a country outside the US and you mentioned the Middle east. Your prospective fiance lives in the US and is nearly 18. Perhaps it is possible for him to visit your home country, and meet you without your parents knowledge?

I do not condone going behind your parents back of course. However, I do not think it is fair to deny you to see this man. It is a very diffucult situation obviously. I wish you the best of luck and I hope this all can be resolved and you can still have the support of your family.

K1 Visa Process long ago and far away...

02/09/06 - NOA1 date

12/17/06 - Married!

AOS Process a fading memory...

01/31/07 - Mailed AOS/EAD package for Olga and Anya

06/01/07 - Green card arrived in mail

Removing Conditions

03/02/09 - Mailed I-751 package (CSC)

03/06/09 - Check cashed

03/10/09 - Recieved Olga's NOA1

03/28/09 - Olga did biometrics

05/11/09 - Anya recieved NOA1 (took a call to USCIS to take care of it, oddly, they were helpful)

It doesnt matter how long - just stipulates that you've MET..no time frame is given there.

Whatevr you do, don't put yourself in harm's way - I know you're not a child per se and Im sure you love your family (and they love you) but I am slightly worried you and your man will try something crazy. Rememebr he's still very young, and you wll need a co-sponsor unless he has an excellent job.

You also need to think of practical things like, where will you live? How will he support you? How will you pay for the AOS (after marriage) which isn't cheap..and food, rent, medical bills..

Can you cope with your family possibly cutting off contact with you over this?

I DO wish you luck..but please make sure you are fully informed and aware before you take steps. :)(F)

I won't get into the visa-specific part of this.

But I did want to say, I feel for you. I was in a very similar situation and I know how hard it is to have to choose between love and family (traditions etc.). I was disowned by my father (for many reasons but mainly because of my going off living on my own and then finally marrying an American boy, oh the shame! ). All I can say is, follow your heart but don't be impulsive.

I feel like I've been through hell and back but I came out stronger, so much stronger and grown-up. If you ever feel like talking, send me a PM.

Good luck to you, whatever you decide to do. (L)

AOS= adjustment of status from non resident to resident on marriage - $325 for the paperwork - which does NOT include any medicals, vaccinations or fingerprinting fee for biometrics etc that's just the starter fee.

USCIS and DOS have not officially released the 2006 guidelines but this was taken from a US embassy site

2006 Poverty Guidelines

Effective March 1, 2006 Here are the 2006 Poverty Guidelines for the 48 Contiguous States and the District of Columbia:

Size of Family Unit............Poverty Guidelines..........125% of Poverty Guidelines

1....................................$9,800...................$12,250

2....................................$13,200..................$16,500

3....................................$16,600..................$20,750

4....................................$20,000..................$25,000

5....................................$23,400..................$29,250

6....................................$26,800..................$33,500

7....................................$30,200..................$37,500

8....................................$33,600..................$42,000

For family units with more than 8 members, add $3,400 for each additional member to meet the poverty guideline; $4,250 to meet 125% of the poverty guideline.

Yes each year. If he is sponsoring then yes the two of you. If a co-sponsor it would be the sponsor + the 2 of you, and so on.
