Short answer: sure, unless your family has a history of genetic problems.

Long answer:

In 26 out of 50 states in the United States, and many other countries, first cousins can marry. Second cousins, third cousins, first cousins once removed, and any other cousins except first cousins can marry in all 50 states and every country in the world.

Source: Marrying cousins

There are however restrictions in some states on first cousins and first cousins one time removed (who are often mistaken for second cousins, so make sure you really are second cousins)

for the record: second cousins are the children of your parents' first cousins. These cousins are your parents' first cousins one time removed. The parents of these cousins are your first cousins one time removed.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Marrying a second cousin is allowed but marriages with family connections even with family friends, face additional scrutiny of the relationship itself. You'll need to show strong evidence your relationship is genuine, as opposed to an arrangement entered into to derive an immigration benefit for a family member.

yeah, just make sure you have proof of relationship.

you'll more likely be under a heavy microscope because officers might think it's an arranged marriage to get relatives to the US.

gather all evidences that you will need.

good luck!

Shouldn't be a problem...My husband and I are first cousins....not stereotypically but by blood yes- I mean we wern't raised together, etc. I only met him on vacation visiting my grandparents when I was 14 which is when we hooked up and started our long distance relationship. Also where I am in Cali it's legal.

Because of naturally judgmental people, I advise to not bring it up unless they ask you.

More than one form asks if the couple is related. It's a critical point of evaluation.

Do some reading in the Phillipines regional forum. There may be someone there in a similar situation.

pushbrk makes an important point, you must be prepared to show that your relationship is genuine. Don't try to avoid the issue. Address it completely and honestly.

fORMS DO ASK, but you have to read it carefully, you do not have to state this on any of the forms you will submitt.

they ask to skip this questions, b/c you obviosly are petitioning for your husband, and thats how you are related.

(if you were petitioning for anyone else in your family then you will answers this types of questions)

you gotta really read the forms carefully like I said. no need to fear anything if your relationship is truthful!!

Good luck!
