Any bisaya speakers out there that can give me a fairly accurate translation of what ingon bitaw ko means? My wife says it alot, and im afraid to ask her because i've pretended to know what it means for a long time now hehe. I *think* it means something along the lines of "That is what I said" but im not sure what the american equivelant would be.

that is a known expression "Ingon Bitaw Ko" here in Cebu now... and it means "I told you so" or "I told you" and once you said that in expression it is like "Im agreeing with you" something like that

Hehehe thanks! My wife has taught me a great deal of Cebuano. So much so, that when I am here at local filipino gatherings with my uncle, his wife, and his wife's sister among others, I can site and listen to the conversations and actually understand a decent amount of what is said now, much to the surprise of some of the speakers . I am lucky that my baby has the patience to teach me and wants me to learn. Some of the "foreigners" who have filipina wives don't want to learn at all, however I feel it is one more thing that draws us closer, and we want our baby to be bilingual too. I've always wanted to become fluent in another language, and now I have a need, and excuse to learn hehe.

Ive been teaching my husband to speak visayan...but all he remembers are the bad words well most of it. It's so cute when he text msg me on my phone in visayan, he just connect all the words he remember....and he sounds so funny when he tries to read all the visayan comments on my friendster page.

My husband love to learn cebuano as well, he even have software that can teach him to pronounce it well and also some books and dictionary English-Cebuano...he learn a lot but sometimes his prounciation is not that perfect yet, he listen to some conversation too when he was in PI and then try to mimic it and ask me what those means... learning another language is fun ..Good luck

Hahah that sounds like me. I know alot of the everyday words, body parts, ta, mo, ko, ka, like that, and yeah some of the "bad" words too hehe. I know one thing I learned to say, and I think I say it right... at least it puts a smile on my wife's face, is "Gihigugma tika akong gwapa asawa sa tibuok akong kasing-kasing hangtod sa kahangtoran" I blended two sentences she taught me together, so I dont know if the grammar is correct or not hehe! Thanks for the help, I will check into the Rosetta Stone, it sounds like something I might be interested in.
