Essentially, when someone says "God Bless America", aren't they implying, "and nobody/nowhere else"?

I mean, why not say, "God Bless the World", or even "God Bless the Good People of the World"? I would even go along with "God has Blessed America".

I love this country, but I'm not sure that she deserves any preference from God over the rest of the world. At just over 200 years old, we're still a relatively young country, with a lot of power that we need to understand how to use more efficiently. I believe that we can use all the "blessings" that are available, but I don't think we deserve those blessings at the expense of other countries being lower on God's priority list, or maybe not making the list at all. The fact that some of us are Americans is either because of a random circumstance of birth, or because of an intentional immigration. Neither of which is great in and of itself, nor deserving of special attention from a deity.

One reason I don't watch award shows is because athletes and other entertainer's "thank God" for their awards....as if God has nothing better to do than select Grammy winners. I guess that's why there's war and famine...because God is too busy making sure entertainers are appropriately recognized for their talents.

By saying "GBA", in a way we're saying "we're better than you, or at least we should be in the eyes of God". It's like saying, we're more deserving of God's blessings. I think it's grand for patriotism, but not very healthy within a more global scope. "GBA" is another part of OUR country's arrogance, that pisses off the world.

I'd like to think that God doesn't have a list of favourite countries or favourite entertainers, but that he blesses good people equally.

God Bless all the good people on VJ, and all the good people in the world.

My friend posts like yours is even more evidence that "Liberalism IS a mental disorder".

I have lived in the USA most of my life and I never took GBA to be exclusionary... as if Gods Blessings and countries worthy of it are in such short supply that the Grand USA would max out the Blessing supply.

What I don't understand is how you ever came to the conclusion that Americans would not want at least our Friends and partners around the world to share in G_ds Blessings too?

When Brits say "God save the queen" should I assume they want our leader to not be saved?

With your logic.... when a Mother prays, or even hopes her baby is born healthy... what she is really doing is hoping her kid is healthy and screw everyone elses kid.

Why oh why is it libs take everything wonderful and well meaning and see it through their twisted lens as something bad?

It's all about context. You wouldn't say God bless America overseas as you wouldn't expect someone to say the same about their own country, when they are in the US.

As usual, not a big deal. But also as usual, more of the same where certain groups continue focus on bull ####### rather than the real world issues facing America and Americas.
