Immunizations

I got my record of immunizations from Manitoba where I grew up and I'm getting a list from Alberta where I currently reside.

Now when I was looking at the list of required shots there looks to be about 16 of them on there. I'm just a little confused that you would need to have all of those. If that is the case then is it better to get those done ahead of time or can they do them at the medical that I have already scheduled in Montreal?

Thanks

I am going to assume you are between the ages of 18 and 64 so here is the list of immunizaitons that you require. I just had my medical with Seiden in Toronto and they do not do the immunizations at the clinic (since he is also doing them in Montreal I will assume they dont' do them there either). So you will need to get the ones done that you are missing. There seems to be only about 5 that apply to your age group.

Good luck

For any vaccinations that you have already received and for any reason do not have record of, you don't need to have the shot again. Just have your regular family doctor draw blood and run titre tests for immunity. Safer and should be covered by your provincial healthcare.

I'm guessing you are having the medical done fairly close to your interview date? In that case make sure you have all the required shots done before time. I was missing a shot in my records and it delayed my medical results by about a week. I called my doctor and the health department several times but there was no record of it, even though it was sure I had already received it! Mr doctor said that getting the titre test done would take about 2 weeks, so I opted to just get the shot again. You don't want a scenario where you don't have your medical results in time for the interview!

Like Canadian Wife said, Dr. Seiden in Toronto doesn't have shots to give, but I'm not sure about Dr. Seiden's in Montreal... Might be worth investigating.

If there is a travel health clinic in your area that is associated with your health region. I would recommend going to them. I had a list of all of required immunizations and the records I already had, and once they gave me the Tdap (Adacel) they updated my records with the health region and gave me a copy to take to my medical exam.

Yep I'm between 18 and 65, I'm going to the Medisys clinic in Montreal about 10 days before my interview.

Thanks for that link, I think I'm all good to go but I'll probably stop by the travel clinic before we go if there are any that I need, or at least see if they think I need anymore.
