Vaccines for K-1ers

hi all

so according to the Ecuadorian consulate, no vaccines are required for K-1 visa applicants.

however, they surely must be required for the AOS ajustment of status process.

Since vaccines are a lot cheaper in Ecuador than in the states we want to get them here...

2 questions:

1: will vaccination cards from Ecuador be legitimate in the US or will we have to just get the vaccines all over again?

what kind of card is legit for USCIS?

2: what are the vaccines required for AOS for a 25 year old? I´ve heard from folks MMR, varicella (chicken pox), tetanus and some kind of PPD that looks to see if you have TB.

Yo, C. -- si, man; get them there. (1) Ours worked fine. (2) Those sound pretty much like what we needed, although we were early enough that TB wasn't required. Caution: If your SO had a "BCG" test done (likely when he was an infant), it can cause a positive TB-test result!

Does your SO have a vaccination record from childhood or any subsequent year? If so, try to get TWO originals (or certified copies), si man.

Dunno if they have the fancy "Tdap" widely available in Ecuador, but consider getting that instead of just plain tetanus, si man. The Tdap includes an adult-type booster against diphtheria & pertussis, if I recall.

Also (new subject), if he does not have a fresh Ecuadorian driver's license and an Int'l. driver permit, get them before he leaves! This, of course, assumes that the consulate doesn't hose you for the visa, which has happened routinely and which I hope doesn't happen to you. -- T-B.
