To be fair to the Church I suspect that the media actually fabricates these little controversies by approaching people for their opinion (rather than the other way around).

It's much the same with the ####### about the Harry Potter books - the people that object to them because they feel that they "promote" witchcraft aren't exactly in a majority.

I disagree with you about the Da Vinci Code movie though Nick. I thought the adaptation was laborious - and too much time was spent trying to stay as true to the structure of the novel rather than risking alienating fans by doing a "proper" adaptation of the source material. I found overlong and rather boring - which can all be traced back to deficiencies in the screenplay.

Hopefully this one won't be quite so slavish to the book.

LOL, I wouldn't waste my time reading the book, just enjoyed after a hard days work, relaxed in my recliner looking at the pictures and enjoying listening to the sound track. Think I fell asleep the first time so had to watch it again, 3rd time, wife wanted to see it for the first time.

Hope I didn't offend anyone, if I did, would have to tighten up that barb wire band on my leg, remove my shirt and whip the evil out of me.

Dan Brown, if that is his real name, just takes minor liberties, don't know if you can call this poetic license or not, like either worthy organizations or even non-existent organizations like the Priory of Sion and the Opus Dei and makes them murderous conspiratorial organizations.

Good question what he is doing with the Illumine, but maybe the Girl Scouts of America are next but putting some kind of mind controlling substance in their cookies.

But certainly a twist in the movie, the Da Vinci Code, did give the Catholic church a new reason to object to it. For years, the key object of the Church was to condemn any movie that had sex in it, sex was always the worse sin possible, there wasn't any sex in the Da Vinci Code.
