Hi guys,

I already have the case # assigned at NVC and the waiting time for an interview in Germany is about 3 weeks. Do I still receive a packet 3 when filing for a CR1?

SO how are the chances to be in the states by september? Any guesses?

Thanks in advance

I think your chances are pretty good. I don't know about Germany though. Our case was completed in June of last year, scheduling done in August and the apointment at the CO made for end of September.

Best Wishes

Oops I just noticed that your case is not complete yet. Well in that case September may be a bit early, yet anything is possible.

It seems to me that you have just started at the NVC. Ours took about 4 months there before they completed it and then it was another month before the interview. I would think you shouldn't get your hopes up, but then again different consulates do things differently. You need to research more what types of processing your consulate does. With some consulates the NVC gathers and reviews all of the papers, and then schedules the interview. Some consulates do their own.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

Isabel,

You get several mailings, which taken together you can call 'packet 3' if you wish. (The term 'packet 3.5' has been heard on ocassion, the defunct packet terminology is getting stretched rather thin these days).

Based on what you've written in this post I think your chances of being an LPR by September are slim, as in anaemic.

I have to disagree with Yodrak (and not cause he never post smilies), I think you have better than a slim chance. I think this because your timeline is similar to my own. Only I submitted my I-130 in Jan not Feb--so I had you by a month--anyway our interview was in Aug. We would of had the Visa in Aug but we failed to get one extra police certificate--so we ended up with the visa a few weeks later the first week of Sep. So keep your hopes up, if all goes well you might make it by Sep. Just don't make mistakes or cause delays, and keep thinking positive.

You would have to be spot on in sending the self generated forms (James Shortcuts) to NVC once they have generated. It all depends on NVC too. If you are lucky to get generations immediately on return of the prior as some have and dont have to wait up to 2 weeks or so like many have to, then September interview could be feasible. It also depends on any security checks and on how long it takes NVC to forward your case once complete. There is no hard time frame for any part of this and there is a certain amount of luck involved.

thanks for the fast responses :). We were told that the visa would be approved no later than June (K3) and my hubby is actually getting really impatient. So I guess it all depends on the NVC. We are using the shortcuts. I have seen people going through NVC process within 50 days. Guess they just got really lucky, since that doesnt seems to be the usual amount of time (what I saw around here). Before we started I actually set my birthday (end of august) as the latest date to be back in the states. So it is kinda disappointing. Maybe a miracle will happen and the MSC will start moving again :)

In August I dont have my flat anymore and cos I am staying at a friends house I cant work either anymore. That is so freaking stupid. He is working two jobs over there and I am sitting here in Germany waiting for the day to fly. But I guess there are many people in the same situation

I hope for all of us that they eventually get their a@@es moving :protest:

all the best isabel

Isabel,

Just try your best and see what happens. If you are lucky and things go well at the NVC, you may be able to finish your NVC process quickly. No one can guarantee you that you would get the visa by September.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
