Hello,

I do not quite understand how it works this DCF.

I explain a bit my situation:

I am french and permanent resident of Canada. My fiancé is US citizen and canadian citizen. We both live together in Montreal. We will get married this year and we would like to move to the US to live after.

We would like to know how to proceed to get an immigrant visa for the US for me from Montreal.

I read the DCF guide on this website. But I still have questions though.

Do someone here in this forum who has done the DCF in Montreal? please and could share with me his experience.

Do the US Montreal consulate allow the DCF procedure?

Thank you

P.

We DCF's through Montreal. So yes, it is possible. They are slowwwww though, but for us DCF'ers it's easier since we get to stay together :)

Hello Len,

thank you for your answer!

could you please tell me how you proceed for your DCF through Montreal US Consulate?

like did you have to take an appointment? what did you have to bring? how long does it take there?....

It is always better to have real experience from real people. :-)

thank you a lot

P.

You first have to file an I-130 at your nearest consulate (Montreal). Once the I-130 is approved, then you gather your documentation and let them know when you are ready for an interview. After that, you sit tight and wait for them to schedule it. When we filed; it was 7 months from telling them wew er ready until the interview.

do you have to bring your documents to the consulate with you and you file the I-130 form?
