Hello all,

When sending in the I-130 petition and all of the requested backup, do you send the original copies or just zerox copies of everthing? For example: do you send in the an original birth certificate issued from your city of birth or do you just saend in a zerox copy of it? If you send in just zerox copies, is there anything that has to be original like marriage cert, etc?

I don't want to delay things by not sending in the required materail.

It is confusing when the say originakl copy and zerox copy; what is the difference? you would think they would say either send in the original doc or a copy; this really confuses me the term original copy.

Thanks for all the help

Steve

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

the instructions to the form are your guide... It says that unless an original is specifically requested then the USCIS accepts regular photocopies (xerox, canon, or otherwise).

what you will send is COPIES ..only the following is ORIGINAL :

FORM I-130 WITH ORIGINAL SIGNATURE

EMPLOYMENT LETTER SHOULD BE ORIGINALS

G-325A (yours and your partner ones ) should carry true original signatures too

rest is copies ..

good Luck

Employment letter is NOT sent in with I-130, it is needed later when petitioner sends I-864 to NVC.
