My man has his visa and is flying here on Sat May 9th to spend the rest of his life with me!! I was curious as to what he can expect at POE. I'm guessing that since he's not using the VWP he doesnt have to do the ESTA online app thingy. Is that correct? What forms does he have to fill out on the plane? I have read that it is white instead of green. Also, which line does he get in at immigration..........the one for citizens or is it still the visitor's line? Since he's flying here to stay, hopefully they wont ask a bunch of questions like they did when he would visit. I'm hoping everything will go much smoother.

I'd be intersted in reading other people's POE experiences. The POE reviews on VJ arent very complete and dont help much at all. Thanks!

Moving from the UK forum to 'Moving Here' forum.

He doesn't need to do ESTA and on the plane he'll fill in the white I-94 and the blue customs form. He'll need to get into the visitor's line at immigration unless someone tells him otherwise. If he has his MBE in his hands someone might direct him to a different line.

A lot of times there is a sign that states "New Immigrants". I've seen them be direct to both the visitor's and US Residents line. Just ask when you line up.

WARNING!!! I came through immigration in Philadelphia on May 7th and the guy I got to see didn't have a clue. He asked me what a K1 visa was and what did it mean. He stamped my I-94 with the same expiration date as on my K1 (16th Oct) when he should have put August 6th. As I had no idea what I was doing I ended up coming all the way to San Francisco still with my brown envelope in my hand. The guy should have taken it off me but he didn't know what he was doing. I eventually called someone and got it handed in to Customs and Borders Patrol today in San Francisco so I've been delayed slightly in preparation for applying for SSN. I hope this information will spread through Visa Journey folk so that it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Funny you mention Philadelphia. I had a pretty bad experience myself, not in terms of harassment level or long waiting, but they did mess up my green card status, and when I tried to "correct" them, they had no idea what I was talking about. My visa was CR1 though. "Contact USCIS", they said. "The embassy made the mistake, call them", they said. After almost six months, I am still waiting for my corrected GC and whining on forums. Good thing is that there are immigration officers who know how to do their job. And I hope you all get one at your POE.
