I noticed a thread was "Closed for review." I did a forum search and found many others also closed for review.

What is the review process? Who conducts the review? What happens at the end of a review? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

Threads can be "locked" by the moderators of the site. It's a standard practice on discussion boards when a thread becomes offensive or in some way violates the Terms of Service (TOS) of the site. On VJ I've seen threads locked when somebody posts ad hominem attacks on other members, or tries to perpetrate a scam.

Often if myself or a mod identifies a problem with a thread we may close it due to a TOS issue. If we need some time to review it (or a mod wants me to take a look) they may close it "as under review". The thread may remain closed if we ultimately deem that as the right course of action... or we may reopen it.

Thanks for the explanation. How often do you re-open a thread that was closed for review?

It all depends on if there was no problem found after we took a look :P.
