Hello all,

I am getting ready to submit the I-130 petition to obtain a visa for my wife in the Philippines.

I originally thought that you should print out all of your yahoo instant message (IM) text conversations in full and send in with the I-130 petition. However, is that necessary? For example , the phone logs or statements , just show the index listing (e.g., date, time and duration of call) they do not list text of entire conversations. So, would it be appropriate to just submit the index list of the yahoo instant messages (IM) instead, just listing the date , time, and duration of the text/chat, instead of printing out the entire text of each conversation you had?

Aren't they more concerned with when and how much you have been in contact versus the details of your private conversations?

It just seems if phone statements/index list are acceptable then why wouldn't the index list of IM (instant messages) also be acceptable in plce of entire chat transcripts?

What should I do: send in the Imstant message (IM) chat/text index list, or print and send in the entire transcript of each conversation?

Thanks much

Steve

How about this, send in a few early emails, middle emails, and present emails, copies of IM chat logs, and a log of texts.

Save the written stuff, a few texts, and IM chats for interview. I enclosed the above and my phone bills, high lighting the texts of his phone and my phone, and the calls to each other. I used the early bills the middle bills, and the last statement we got when we sent in Petition. Now keep in mind my chats, logs, and phone bills consisted of almost 3 years worth. And our petiiton is a bit different then others.

Steve,

I sent in a few recent letters, phone bills and chat logs. As the other post has mentioned, you will need more detail at the interview. The I-130 only is for identifying if you have enough relationship established to apply for visa. The interview process at the embassy will need additional criteria on the relationship. So only a few documents are neccessary for the I-130.
