This is the first post for me and I hope someone will be able to answer my question. My fiancee is 22 years old (male) and I am 51 years old (female) so there is quite an age difference between us. We met online and have documentation (emails, IMs etc) to show proof of our relationship being legitimate.

My fiancee is very worried that the consulate will deny us based on our age difference and I think he is wrong and they are not legally allowed to deny on that basis alone. There have been men with this age difference over their fiancee's for years so I dont see how they can discriminate because I am the older and female.

Does anyone know for sure???? Can we be denied just for having this big of an age difference between us with him being the younger??? I have already traveled to his country to meet in person and now we just need to apply for the visa.

I would go with desertlady on this one, If they do ask him about his age, love and marriage comes in no age use the phrophet muhammed storie for backup sence it is mostly islamic country. And see if they have anything against his doings lol which they should not if being true muslims. And sence it is a AMERICAN CONSULATE BY AMERICAN LAW AGE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE VISA BEING DINED

I would really like to thank everyone who replied to my question. I also added the word "Morocco" to the search engine here on the site and found some very interesting testimonies from people in my same predicament. What I found out up until now is that it will #1: depend on the mood and personality of the interviewer and #2: depend largely on documentation of our ongoing relationship. This seems to be the theme with most of the replys Ive read today as well as the experiences of older woman/younger fiancee going through this process.

Inshallah we will be ok. We are not ready to apply yet but it made me feel better to see other couples have gone through the same thing so possibly I can be more prepared. Again thank you all so much!!!!

22 X 2 + 6 = 51

typo error - replace 6 with 7 please, so much for the error here

it was just the typo but what about real life matter here ?

anyways, life is just too short so all the best to Isra !

I would go with Brnidokiegirl on this one. SHE is the one with experience with the consulate you would be dealing with. As I advised in a previous post on this thread, many of us can give you general advice on the K-1 process. You need to deal with the people who have experience with your specific consulate to get the "whole" story. Just remember, just because you don't like the answer, does NOT mean it is wrong.

you might get scrutinize a bit, so just document your relationship as complete as possible and bring all of the evidence..... here on this forum people will say no problem because some people is going through the same situation. the CO might think different....

I would think in your case that you will have to show:

- extreme proofs of relationship (emails don't cut it!)

- very strong affidavit of support

- completely clear background checks for him and his family

They will probably the latter as a way to delay your approvals, even if there's nothing.

Basically in your case, things will happen, but it will happen very slowly so don't look at 'standard' timelines.

Good luck, use the forums to get answers to your questions. Lots of good stuff and good people here :)

It would be counterproductive to open the religious can of worms. The U.S. forbids polygamy, even though some religious faiths encourage it.

I wish to make a clear distinction between the need to "document" the relationship and the need to actually live and conduct the relationship like a people in a genuine relationship do. If all you can document is one short visit and a lot of emails and phone calls, it may well not matter how good the documentation is.

Time together is the best evidence. My advice is to make sure there's plenty of time together and that it is spent like engaged people spend it when preparing for a marriage, then document that while it's happening. Time together and with family and friends is the key. If you aren't doing it, it's going to be very difficult to believe the relationship is about anything more than an immigration benefit. The relationship itself needs to be believable, not just a big pile of documents and pictures.

Well ok now I am concerned BECAUSE it is Morocco and Casa in particular. Im very worried now after reading everything here. Morocco is a very conservative country I could see that with my own eyes when I visited there so Im sure the age difference will be an issue..........question is HOW MUCH OF AN ISSUE and can we get past it???? Our relationship is legitimate and I have emails and IMs and phone records from when we first met online last June to prove its legitimate. The way I understand it he is the one who needs all this proof for the interview and not me.

Also I went there one time to meet in person and I stayed in his parents home for 3 weeks so we have pictures of me with the whole family. I read on here that people are saying that I should make more than one trip to meet in person but financially that may not be possible!!!! Im so worried now!!!!!!

If I were you, I'd make it possible. How believable do the pictures make the relationship appear? Is his culture one where it's normal for a young man to marry a woman who cannot bear his children? Don't get hung up on the political incorrectness. This is all about convincing reasonable people something is genuine.

No this is definately NOT a culture where a young man should marry an older woman who cannot have a child with him. This is a culture where family means everything and we have really discussed all of these issues between the two of us. Im not one of those kind of people who gets insulted easily so please dont worry about telling me the true hard facts because I need to be informed and I wont get my feelings hurt.

As for the pictures I took with his family it was as in a family setting and there are pictures of all of us eating and laughing and sitting around pretty much like every family does. He had his cousins, aunts, uncles and his whole family in most of the pictures. We also visited some other cities in Morocco such as Rabat and Casablanca so we have pictures like we were sight seeing too. I dont know what type of pictures the consulate will expect seeing as how this is an Islamic country so obviously the pictures wouldnt be racey even if we were already married. ???

HAve you thought of moving to Morocco? If in future you want to come back to the US it would be much easier with a few years under your belt.

Perhaps something to discuss with your fiancee?
